１．あきらさんのお料理教室報告（料理教室担当）
開催日：2015年3月18日（水）
メニュー：帆立貝のテリーヌ、南仏プロバンス風 白身魚のプレゼ、ブラックベリーのムース
受講者：24名
＜料理教室委員より＞
参加費について、去年より安いイメージを持たれた方が断然多かったです。会費であった16ドル以上の価値を見出していただけたことは、満足の証として嬉しく思っています。
ベビーシッター・スペースでの効果的なDVD利用、アキラさんとともに試食する際に会話が弾むテーブル・セッティングなど、来年に向けて改善していきたいと思います。
次回の講習会で習ってみたいメニューについて、沢山リクエストが出ました。今年のメニューも昨年のアンケート結果が反映されたもので、こちらの意見を真摯に聞いてくださるあきらさんに感謝しています。
【ドリオ会長】こどもの家が再来年度に30周年を迎えることを記念し、過去のレシピを集めたレシピ本を出す計画あり。過去のレシピをできる限り集め、あきらさんと協力しながら進めていきます。

魚料理、シーフードの新鮮なメニューでよかったです。ホタテのテリーヌはとても美味しかったです。
今回のムースは本当に美味しかったです。
前菜、メイン、デザートと、おもてなしにこのまま使えるメニューの構成、そして実際のプレーティングも見られて、大変勉強になりました。
参加したのは初めてでしたが、アキラさんの人柄の良さが伝わってくるとても良い会でした。写真を撮っても良いとは知らず、カメラを持ってキッチンに行かなかったのが残念でした。
ボランティアのお母様もありがとうございました。オーガナイズされていて、よかったと思います。
お料理教室委員の方達は、この会のために頑張ってくれたのに、お料理を一緒に食べられないのは気の毒に思いました。
テーブルの配置が昨年よりよかったです。
アキラさんが、皆さんの中に座って雑談できるとよかったと思います。

お菓子だけの講習会などもしてほしいです（ティーパーティーなど）。
テーブルに塩と胡椒が置いてあるといいなと思いました。

このお料理教室は、アキラさんのお料理を教えていただくという趣旨なので、試食の際には、そのままのお味を楽しんでいただけると嬉しいです。
レシピの書き方が分かりづらかった。グラム単位を、カップやスプーンで表示してもらえると、もっと家庭でも作りやすいと思う。

お配りしたレシピは、アキラさんのオリジナル・レシピになるべく忠実にしているものです。各家庭で使いやすいように、各人でメモをとっていただけると助かります。
２．父母の会バザー報告（バザー委員）
開催日：2015年3月14日（土）
バザー収益：$3,612.75（前年度は$2,789.50）
バザー純利益（諸経費抜く）：$3,198.94（前年度は$2491.78）
震災義援金：売上の25％にあたる903.19ドルを気仙沼市鹿折小学校へ寄付させていただきました。

前年度を大きく上回る大成功となりました。バザー委員、ボランティア、ドネーションをしてくださった方々始め、皆様のご協力に感謝します。
バザー終了後、バザー委員、ボランティア、来場者の皆様から、沢山の感想、ご意見などをいただきました。バザーは有志が集まった年だけ行われる行事ですが、こうしたご意見を参考に、よかったところは残しながら、改善を重ね、次回の楽しいバザーにつなげていければと思います。

＊たくさんいただいた意見から抜粋させていただきました。
今年のバザーは、新しい企画が盛り沢山でとても楽しかったです。日本のお祭り気分をアメリカでも味わえました。
ブースのひとつ一つにテントが有り、目的毎にセクションわけされて見やすく、まるでファーマーズマーケット会場のようでした。
値段の設定も始めからお手頃な価格で買いやすかったと思います。
当日の運営はもちろん、それまでの準備は大変だったと思います。バザー委員さんのご尽力のお陰で、バラエティ豊かでありつつも、見やすくくつろぎやすく整頓された素敵なバザーだったと思います
キッズコーナーのフェイスペイントやヨーヨー釣りは、子どもたちが喜び、可愛い笑顔を見せてくれました。
クラフトコーナーで売られていた石鹸類はとてもおしゃれで充実しており、クラフト教室も楽しかったです。
食べ物類は、去年よりも低価で用意されていて、何種類も気軽に楽しめたと思いました。
お弁当類も美味しく、かき氷、アイスクリームも、子どもたちが大喜びで、今後もずっと続けてほしいです。
野菜、果物は最後の値下げ前には完売！お菓子、お米などその他の食品も好評でした。
ラッフルの企画はとても楽しかったので、また是非来年もやっていただきたいです。快く多くの寄付をしてくださった企業や個人の方々(父兄)の子どもの家や東日本大震災の復興義援への温かいお気持ちのおかげだと感謝しています。
サイレントオークション、ラッフルは、バザーとは別で独立した形で開催してもよいのではと思いました。
たくさんの方が委員、ボランティアとしてお手伝いしてくださったのは、素晴らしいことだと思いました。
ボランティアに参加して他の父兄やこどもたちと触れ合うことができて、とても貴重な経験をさせてもらえました。クラスが違う人とも交流ができるのがバザーの醍醐味ですね。
３．運動会について（運動会委員）
【玉入れ競技の紅白玉作成】
これまでも数年ごとに、父兄の手作りで紅白玉が補充されてきました。そこで、今年も皆さんにご協力いただくことになりました。この紅白玉は、今後、数年間にわたり、こどもの家の運動会で活躍することになりますので、全員提出にご協力をお願いします。スケジュールは下記の通り。
4/17（金）～：紅白布と中袋用のだしパック、説明書が入ったキットを園児のかばんに入れて配布します。一家族、紅玉・白玉ひとつずつ、合計２つを作成お願いします。
5/8（金）：提出締切。紅白玉２つをキットのジップロックに入れ、アテンダンスシート横の回収箱に提出お願いします。
4/29（水）、30（木）、5/1 （金）に、教会の部屋を園の時間中に借り、作成会を開くことも検討中です。
１セット以上作ってくださるという方は、クラスマザーまでお知らせください。
【父兄ボランティア】
年度始めにサインアップして下さった方、新入生、クリスマス＆もちつきでボランティアができなかった方、これまでの行事でボランティアをされていない方を対象に、運動会の父兄ボランティアの配置を行います。ボランティアの皆様は、運動会委員からのメールをご確認ください。また、クラスマザーが、Mom/Dadのどちらにボランティアをしていただけるか、仕事内容の希望などを確認させていただきますので、ご協力ください。対象者以外でも、ボランティアをしてくださるという方は大歓迎です。ぜひ、役員や運動会委員、クラスマザーまでお声がけください。
【組分け表】
運動会は、年少、年中、年長で組み分けされます。園児によっては、「年中のクラスを取っているが、年少の競技に出場する」といったケースもあるため、該当する園児のご父兄には、クラスマザーから、どの組み分けで出場するか説明させていただきます。
【お弁当】
今年も運動会当日のお弁当は、South San Gabrielの東西さんが担当してくださいます。値段は大人弁当＄7.50 、子ども弁当＄5.00となります。お便りばさみに同封されている申込書にチェックを添え（宛先“Kodomo no Ie”）、５月２日（土）までに、出席簿横の回収箱に提出お願いします。
【キャノピー】
応援席用のキャノピーを、各クラス４つ以上、募集します。貸してくださったご家族は、優先的に座っていただけるように調整します。お貸しいただける方は、クラスマザーまでお声がけください。
【連絡網】
運動会当日の緊急連絡は電話で回ってきますので、再度、緊急連絡網の確認をお願いします。
４．年度末の父母会からのギフト（会計）
年度末の先生方へのギフトについて
→今年も贈らせていただくということで、クラスマザー会で承認されました。
園へのギフトの内容と購入について
→園長先生からいただいたリクエストをもとに、運動会などでも使えるこどもの家ロゴ入りテント２つと、さくら組と父母会との共同記念品として砂場に日よけを建設するということで、承認されました。
５．リトル東京サービスセンターからのファンドについて
リトル東京サービスセンターから園長先生のほうに、講演会ファンドのオファーがありました。
→役員とクラスマザーにファンドを利用する講演会のアイデアを募ったところ、CPR講演会とイマージョン教育講習会という案が挙がり、クラスマザー会での多数決により、まずは、CPR講習会を希望することとなりました。イマージョン教育講習会については、希望者が多いようであれば、有料で行うことも考慮していただきたいと思います。
６．ファンドレーズのご案内（幾留さん）
Tシャツ販売へのご協力、ありがとうございました。ご注文いただいた方には、運動会前に確実にお配りします。今回の販売では、色の表記がわかりにくかったため、次回から配慮します。今回のＴシャツは物は良い物を選びましたので、ちぢみが少ないはずですが、色落ちする可能性はありますので、お気をつけください。
バザーでは、せっけんやこどもの家ロゴ入りグッズ（幾留さん作）など、120ドル分を売り上げることができました。まだ、中古Ｔシャツが事務所にありますので、興味のある方は見にいらしてください。
４月17日（金）より、スクリップの募集を始めます。５月９日（土）締め切り、５月末に商品配布を予定しています。ぜひ、ご購入をお願いします。
９．園長先生より
春休みに日本に行った際に、東北大震災の義援金として、気仙沼市立鹿折小学校に25万円を送らせていただきました。父母会からいただいたバザーの売上に、個人的に少し足した金額です。新しい校長先生から、本を買う予定だというご報告とお礼のメールをいただきました。
大根を全クラスの園児に抜いてもらうことができました。さくら組の園児たちが畑を耕したので、また、生ごみを募集します。ご家庭で出た野菜の切れ端、卵の殻、魚、コーヒーなどの生ごみをお持ちいただき、靴箱横の回収箱に入れていただけますようお願いします。
きく組は敬老ホーム訪問のため、一生懸命、歌の練習をしています。バス乗車へのご理解など、よろしくお願いします。
運動会で使う玉入れの紅白玉がかなり減ってきているので、運動会委員さんからのありがたい申し出もあり、今年、保護者の皆様に作成をお願いさせていただくことになりました。ご協力お願いします。
今年度最後の行事である運動会がよいものとなりますように、運動会に向けた様々な準備についても、ご協力お願いします。
園へのギフトとして、屋根とテントをいただけるとのこと、ありがとうございます。

2015 April Class Mothers Meeting
1. Report on Chef Akira’s Cooking Class (from the Cooking Class Committee)
Date: March 18, 2015 (Wednesday)
Menu: Scallop Terrine, Braised White Fish Southern French Provence style, Blackberry Mousse
Attendance: 24 people

Many perceived the class participation fee to be less expensive than last year. We are delighted that so many believed the class to be worth much more than the $16 fee.
For next year, we would like to improve on the use of appropriate DVDs for the babysitting space, as well as seating arrangements that would make conversation with Chef Akira more conducive during the tasting portion of class.
We received quite a lot of requests for next year’s cooking class. This year’s menu reflects the results of last year’s survey, and we are so thankful for Chef Akira graciously accommodating us.
[President Kumiko Dorio]: To commemorate Kodomo no Ie’s 30th anniversary, there are plans to work with Chef Akira to gather recipes from previous years and make them into a cookbook.

It was fun and delicious. The class was spectacular. Chef Akira, thank you so much!

This comment was heard over and over again!
The fresh fish and seafood menu was great. The scallop terrine was delicious.
The mousse was truly delicious.
From appetizer, main course, to dessert, the entire menu could be served to guests at home. On top of the cooking, actually watching the chef plate his dishes was incredibly edifying.
This was my first time attending, but Chef Akira’s kindness really shines through. I didn’t know photography was allowed, and I regret not taking my camera to into the kitchen.
Thank you to the volunteer mothers for organizing this event.
I felt badly for the Cooking Class Committee members who worked so hard to organize the event, but were unable to participate in the tasting with us.
The table arrangement was much better than last year.
It would have been nice if Chef Akira could have sat closer to us and chatted.

We are in discussions with Chef Akira about this arrangement for next year.
It would be nice to have a class on confectionary and cakes (for tea parties, etc.)

As we are learning to cook from the Chef, we believe it would be nice to taste the food as it is presented.
The recipe was difficult for me to follow. Measurements in grams, cups, or spoons would have made it easier for cooking at home.

The recipes we handed out are faithful copies of Chef Akira’s original notes. We urge participants to take notes during the class to translate the recipes for home use.
2. Notes about the Parent Association Bazar (from the Bazar Committee)
Date: March 14, 2015 (Saturday)
Total Cash Earned (Minus expenses): $3198.94 (last year was $2491.78)
Earthquake donations: we were able to donate $ 903.19 corresponding to 25% of sales to Kesennuma Shishiori Elementary School.

The Bazar was a huge success this year, earning significantly more than last year. We are immensely grateful to the Bazar committee, the volunteers, and to everyone who generously gave donations.
After the bazar we received ample feedback from the bazar committee, volunteers, and visitors. Although the bazar only happens on years when there are ample volunteers, considering everyone’s observations and experiences will undoubtedly help improve future bazars.

The following are excerpts from the many opinions we received
This year’s bazar was filled with new events and was very enjoyable. We were able to experience the Japanese festival experience in the United States.
Each booth had its own tents, and each section was well marked, making it easy to navigate. It was almost like a farmer’s market.
Setting prices affordably beforehand made buying easy.
The execution on the day of the bazar and all of the planning and preparation beforehand must have been exhausting and extensive. Thanks to the immense efforts of the committee, there was a wonderful variety of offerings while remaining easy to navigate. It was a wonderful bazar.
The Kids Corner’s face painting and yoyo fishing were a great hit with the children, and we were able to witness their adorable smiles.
The soaps sold at the Craft Corner were lovely, and the Craft Workshop was enjoyable.
Compared to last year, there were a wider variety of foods for a reasonable price points, allowing us to enjoy a nice array of different dishes.
The lunch/bento choices were delicious, and the shaved ice and ice cream were a big hit with the children. We hope you will continue these choices next time.
The vegetables and fruit sold out before the final price cuts! The sweets, rice, and other goods were also quite popular.
The raffle was really fun, and I hope you will continue doing them next time. I was gratified to see its success, which highlights the generous donations from businesses and individuals (parents) from Kodomo no Ie and their warmth toward the Tohoku Earthquake reconstruction efforts.
I felt it could be possible to conduct the raffle/auction separate from the bazar.
I thought it was marvelous that the many committee members and volunteers came together to organize and participate in this event.
By volunteering, I was able to meet with many other parents I would not have otherwise met and was an invaluable experience. Getting to know parents from different classes is one of the best parts of volunteering for the bazar.
3. About Sports Day (from the Sports Day Committee)
[Making red and white balls for the Bean Bag Ball Toss Game]
Every few years, parents have made the red/white bean bags for this game. This year we continue to ask for your generous help. These bean bags will be used this year and for years to come, and we request every one to pitch in. The schedule is as follows:
4/17 (Fri) ~ red/white cloth, a medium sized dashi-bag, instructions kit will be placed in the student’s bag. Each family is responsible for one red and one white bean bag, for a total of 2 bean bags.
5/8 (Fri): submission deadline. Please place one red and one white bean bag in the ziplock bag provided and place them in the box next to the attendance sheet.
4/29 (Wed), 30 (Thurs), 5/1 (Fri): We are considering borrowing one of the church’s classrooms during school hours to set up a bean bag making room.
If you can make more than one set of bean bags, please contact a Class Mother.
[Parent Volunteers]
We are calling to recruit those who signed up at the beginning of the academic year, parents of new students, those who could not volunteer during the Christmas Show or the Mochi Festival, and those who have yet to volunteer. For those of you volunteering, please check your email for a message from the Sports Day Committee. The Committee needs to learn whether mothers or fathers will be volunteering in order to divide up the jobs, so we are counting on your timely responses. Other than those referenced above, we would ecstatically welcome anyone else who wishes to volunteer. Please contact a committee member, Parent Association member or a Class Mother.
[Team Divisions]
At Sports Day, teams will be divided by Younger Class (Nen-Sho), Middle Class (Nen-Chu), Oldest Class (Nen-Cho). A student may be enrolled in a Middle Class (Nen-Chu) but participate in competitions as a Younger Class student or vice versa. If your child is one of these students, a class mother will explain which team your child will compete under.
[Bentos]
As in previous years, this year the Sports Day Bentos will be provided by Tozai of South San Gabriel. The cost is $7.50 for adult’s lunches and $5 for children’s lunches. Order forms were placed in your child’s Message Binder. Please place your order form and check (made out to “Kodomo no Ie”) in the box next to the attendance sheet by May 2nd (Sat).
[Canopies]
We are requesting each class provide at least 4 canopies for the seating area / cheering area. We will ensure that those volunteering their canopies will secure a preferential seat in their class area. Please contact your class mother if you have a canopy to lend.

On the day of the event, notification of delay/cancellation will be communicated via phone, so please reconfirm your emergency contact information.
4. End of the Year Gift from the Parents Association (Treasurer)
Regarding the gift for the teachers at the end of the year
・Buying gifts cards for the teachers was approved at the Class Mothers meeting.
Regarding the content and purchase of the gift for Kodomo no Ie
・Based on Encho-sensei’s request, the Committee approved:
the purchase of 2 tents with the Kodomo no Ie logo which will be used at Sports Day and other events
a joint gift from Sakura gumi and the Parents Association of a ramada above the sand box.
5. About the Little Tokyo Service Center Fund
The Little Tokyo Service Center approached Encho Sensei offering to set up a lecture fund.
・ Parent Association members and Class Mothers came up with two potential lecture topics: CPR training, and Immersion Education. At the Class Mothers meeting a majority voted first to request the CPR training course/lecture. If there is enough interest in Immersion Education, we may offer a fee-based lecture.
6. Fundraising Information (Ms. Ikudome)
Thank you for your participation in t-shirt sales. We will make sure to hand out the t-shirts before Sports Day. As the color choices were quite confusing this time, we will be mindful of this in the future. The t-shirts we chose during this cycle are of good quality, so we don’t foresee a lot of shrinkage in the wash. However, the color may bleed, so please be careful.
At the Bazar, $120 worth of soaps and items with the Kodomo no Ie logo (made by Ms. Ikudome) were sold. There are still some used Kodomo no Ie t-shirts available in the office. Interested persons should please come by to look.
Starting April 17th (Fri), we will begin selling Scrip (gift cards). The deadline is May 9th (Sat), and the gift cards are scheduled to arrive by the end of May. Please make sure to purchase some gift cards.
7. From Encho Sensei
During Spring Break I returned to Japan and took the opportunity to send 250,000 yen to the Kesennuma Shishiori Elementary School as part of the Tohoku Earthquake Relief Donation. The donation amount was a sum of the sales from the Parent Association’s Bazar and a small personal donation I added. The new principal emailed to tell me that the funds would be used to purchase new books.
We were able to have students from every class pull a daikon. Since the Sakura gumi children plowed the garden, we are now asking for household compost. Please bring vegetable and fruit peelings, eggshells, fish, coffee, etc and place in the compost box located next to the shoeboxes.
Kiku gumi students are diligently practicing singing their songs for the upcoming visit to Keiro home. Parents, please make sure you are apprised of the information about the bus ride and other relevant information.
Because we have fewer and fewer red and white bean bags used for Sports Day, the Sports Day Committee has kindly offered to have parents make the red and white bean bags for this year and future Sports Days. Thank you so much for your support.
Sports Day is the final event of the year, and we look forward to all of your support in the preparation leading up to the event day.
We are grateful for the roof over the sandbox and tents that have been gifted to us. Thank you.
We are currently enrolling students for summer school and for the next academic year.

今回のムースは本当に美味しかったです。
前菜、メイン、デザートと、おもてなしにこのまま使えるメニューの構成、そして実際のプレーティングも見られて、大変勉強になりました。
参加したのは初めてでしたが、アキラさんの人柄の良さが伝わってくるとても良い会でした。写真を撮っても良いとは知らず、カメラを持ってキッチンに行かなかったのが残念でした。
ボランティアのお母様もありがとうございました。オーガナイズされていて、よかったと思います。
お料理教室委員の方達は、この会のために頑張ってくれたのに、お料理を一緒に食べられないのは気の毒に思いました。
テーブルの配置が昨年よりよかったです。
アキラさんが、皆さんの中に座って雑談できるとよかったと思います。

レシピの書き方が分かりづらかった。グラム単位を、カップやスプーンで表示してもらえると、もっと家庭でも作りやすいと思う。

２．父母の会バザー報告（バザー委員）

バザー収益：$3,612.75（前年度は$2,789.50）
バザー純利益（諸経費抜く）：$3,198.94（前年度は$2491.78）
震災義援金：売上の25％にあたる903.19ドルを気仙沼市鹿折小学校へ寄付させていただきました。

前年度を大きく上回る大成功となりました。バザー委員、ボランティア、ドネーションをしてくださった方々始め、皆様のご協力に感謝します。
バザー終了後、バザー委員、ボランティア、来場者の皆様から、沢山の感想、ご意見などをいただきました。バザーは有志が集まった年だけ行われる行事ですが、こうしたご意見を参考に、よかったところは残しながら、改善を重ね、次回の楽しいバザーにつなげていければと思います。

今年のバザーは、新しい企画が盛り沢山でとても楽しかったです。日本のお祭り気分をアメリカでも味わえました。
ブースのひとつ一つにテントが有り、目的毎にセクションわけされて見やすく、まるでファーマーズマーケット会場のようでした。
値段の設定も始めからお手頃な価格で買いやすかったと思います。
当日の運営はもちろん、それまでの準備は大変だったと思います。バザー委員さんのご尽力のお陰で、バラエティ豊かでありつつも、見やすくくつろぎやすく整頓された素敵なバザーだったと思います
キッズコーナーのフェイスペイントやヨーヨー釣りは、子どもたちが喜び、可愛い笑顔を見せてくれました。
クラフトコーナーで売られていた石鹸類はとてもおしゃれで充実しており、クラフト教室も楽しかったです。
食べ物類は、去年よりも低価で用意されていて、何種類も気軽に楽しめたと思いました。
お弁当類も美味しく、かき氷、アイスクリームも、子どもたちが大喜びで、今後もずっと続けてほしいです。
野菜、果物は最後の値下げ前には完売！お菓子、お米などその他の食品も好評でした。
ラッフルの企画はとても楽しかったので、また是非来年もやっていただきたいです。快く多くの寄付をしてくださった企業や個人の方々(父兄)の子どもの家や東日本大震災の復興義援への温かいお気持ちのおかげだと感謝しています。
サイレントオークション、ラッフルは、バザーとは別で独立した形で開催してもよいのではと思いました。
たくさんの方が委員、ボランティアとしてお手伝いしてくださったのは、素晴らしいことだと思いました。
ボランティアに参加して他の父兄やこどもたちと触れ合うことができて、とても貴重な経験をさせてもらえました。クラスが違う人とも交流ができるのがバザーの醍醐味ですね。
３．運動会について（運動会委員）
【玉入れ競技の紅白玉作成】
これまでも数年ごとに、父兄の手作りで紅白玉が補充されてきました。そこで、今年も皆さんにご協力いただくことになりました。この紅白玉は、今後、数年間にわたり、こどもの家の運動会で活躍することになりますので、全員提出にご協力をお願いします。スケジュールは下記の通り。
4/17（金）～：紅白布と中袋用のだしパック、説明書が入ったキットを園児のかばんに入れて配布します。一家族、紅玉・白玉ひとつずつ、合計２つを作成お願いします。
5/8（金）：提出締切。紅白玉２つをキットのジップロックに入れ、アテンダンスシート横の回収箱に提出お願いします。
4/29（水）、30（木）、5/1 （金）に、教会の部屋を園の時間中に借り、作成会を開くことも検討中です。
１セット以上作ってくださるという方は、クラスマザーまでお知らせください。
【父兄ボランティア】
年度始めにサインアップして下さった方、新入生、クリスマス＆もちつきでボランティアができなかった方、これまでの行事でボランティアをされていない方を対象に、運動会の父兄ボランティアの配置を行います。ボランティアの皆様は、運動会委員からのメールをご確認ください。また、クラスマザーが、Mom/Dadのどちらにボランティアをしていただけるか、仕事内容の希望などを確認させていただきますので、ご協力ください。対象者以外でも、ボランティアをしてくださるという方は大歓迎です。ぜひ、役員や運動会委員、クラスマザーまでお声がけください。
【組分け表】
運動会は、年少、年中、年長で組み分けされます。園児によっては、「年中のクラスを取っているが、年少の競技に出場する」といったケースもあるため、該当する園児のご父兄には、クラスマザーから、どの組み分けで出場するか説明させていただきます。
【お弁当】
今年も運動会当日のお弁当は、South San Gabrielの東西さんが担当してくださいます。値段は大人弁当＄7.50 、子ども弁当＄5.00となります。お便りばさみに同封されている申込書にチェックを添え（宛先“Kodomo no Ie”）、５月２日（土）までに、出席簿横の回収箱に提出お願いします。

応援席用のキャノピーを、各クラス４つ以上、募集します。貸してくださったご家族は、優先的に座っていただけるように調整します。お貸しいただける方は、クラスマザーまでお声がけください。

運動会当日の緊急連絡は電話で回ってきますので、再度、緊急連絡網の確認をお願いします。
４．年度末の父母会からのギフト（会計）
年度末の先生方へのギフトについて
→今年も贈らせていただくということで、クラスマザー会で承認されました。
園へのギフトの内容と購入について
→園長先生からいただいたリクエストをもとに、運動会などでも使えるこどもの家ロゴ入りテント２つと、さくら組と父母会との共同記念品として砂場に日よけを建設するということで、承認されました。
５．リトル東京サービスセンターからのファンドについて
リトル東京サービスセンターから園長先生のほうに、講演会ファンドのオファーがありました。
→役員とクラスマザーにファンドを利用する講演会のアイデアを募ったところ、CPR講演会とイマージョン教育講習会という案が挙がり、クラスマザー会での多数決により、まずは、CPR講習会を希望することとなりました。イマージョン教育講習会については、希望者が多いようであれば、有料で行うことも考慮していただきたいと思います。
６．ファンドレーズのご案内（幾留さん）
Tシャツ販売へのご協力、ありがとうございました。ご注文いただいた方には、運動会前に確実にお配りします。今回の販売では、色の表記がわかりにくかったため、次回から配慮します。今回のＴシャツは物は良い物を選びましたので、ちぢみが少ないはずですが、色落ちする可能性はありますので、お気をつけください。
バザーでは、せっけんやこどもの家ロゴ入りグッズ（幾留さん作）など、120ドル分を売り上げることができました。まだ、中古Ｔシャツが事務所にありますので、興味のある方は見にいらしてください。
４月17日（金）より、スクリップの募集を始めます。５月９日（土）締め切り、５月末に商品配布を予定しています。ぜひ、ご購入をお願いします。
９．園長先生より
春休みに日本に行った際に、東北大震災の義援金として、気仙沼市立鹿折小学校に25万円を送らせていただきました。父母会からいただいたバザーの売上に、個人的に少し足した金額です。新しい校長先生から、本を買う予定だというご報告とお礼のメールをいただきました。
大根を全クラスの園児に抜いてもらうことができました。さくら組の園児たちが畑を耕したので、また、生ごみを募集します。ご家庭で出た野菜の切れ端、卵の殻、魚、コーヒーなどの生ごみをお持ちいただき、靴箱横の回収箱に入れていただけますようお願いします。
きく組は敬老ホーム訪問のため、一生懸命、歌の練習をしています。バス乗車へのご理解など、よろしくお願いします。
運動会で使う玉入れの紅白玉がかなり減ってきているので、運動会委員さんからのありがたい申し出もあり、今年、保護者の皆様に作成をお願いさせていただくことになりました。ご協力お願いします。
今年度最後の行事である運動会がよいものとなりますように、運動会に向けた様々な準備についても、ご協力お願いします。

2015 April Class Mothers Meeting
1. Report on Chef Akira’s Cooking Class (from the Cooking Class Committee)
Date: March 18, 2015 (Wednesday)
Menu: Scallop Terrine, Braised White Fish Southern French Provence style, Blackberry Mousse
Attendance: 24 people

Many perceived the class participation fee to be less expensive than last year. We are delighted that so many believed the class to be worth much more than the $16 fee.
For next year, we would like to improve on the use of appropriate DVDs for the babysitting space, as well as seating arrangements that would make conversation with Chef Akira more conducive during the tasting portion of class.
We received quite a lot of requests for next year’s cooking class. This year’s menu reflects the results of last year’s survey, and we are so thankful for Chef Akira graciously accommodating us.
[President Kumiko Dorio]: To commemorate Kodomo no Ie’s 30th anniversary, there are plans to work with Chef Akira to gather recipes from previous years and make them into a cookbook.

This comment was heard over and over again!
The fresh fish and seafood menu was great. The scallop terrine was delicious.
The mousse was truly delicious.
From appetizer, main course, to dessert, the entire menu could be served to guests at home. On top of the cooking, actually watching the chef plate his dishes was incredibly edifying.
This was my first time attending, but Chef Akira’s kindness really shines through. I didn’t know photography was allowed, and I regret not taking my camera to into the kitchen.
Thank you to the volunteer mothers for organizing this event.
I felt badly for the Cooking Class Committee members who worked so hard to organize the event, but were unable to participate in the tasting with us.
The table arrangement was much better than last year.
It would have been nice if Chef Akira could have sat closer to us and chatted.

As we are learning to cook from the Chef, we believe it would be nice to taste the food as it is presented.
The recipe was difficult for me to follow. Measurements in grams, cups, or spoons would have made it easier for cooking at home.

The recipes we handed out are faithful copies of Chef Akira’s original notes. We urge participants to take notes during the class to translate the recipes for home use.
2. Notes about the Parent Association Bazar (from the Bazar Committee)
Date: March 14, 2015 (Saturday)
Total Cash Earned (Minus expenses): $3198.94 (last year was $2491.78)
Earthquake donations: we were able to donate $ 903.19 corresponding to 25% of sales to Kesennuma Shishiori Elementary School.

The Bazar was a huge success this year, earning significantly more than last year. We are immensely grateful to the Bazar committee, the volunteers, and to everyone who generously gave donations.
After the bazar we received ample feedback from the bazar committee, volunteers, and visitors. Although the bazar only happens on years when there are ample volunteers, considering everyone’s observations and experiences will undoubtedly help improve future bazars.

This year’s bazar was filled with new events and was very enjoyable. We were able to experience the Japanese festival experience in the United States.
Each booth had its own tents, and each section was well marked, making it easy to navigate. It was almost like a farmer’s market.
Setting prices affordably beforehand made buying easy.
The execution on the day of the bazar and all of the planning and preparation beforehand must have been exhausting and extensive. Thanks to the immense efforts of the committee, there was a wonderful variety of offerings while remaining easy to navigate. It was a wonderful bazar.
The Kids Corner’s face painting and yoyo fishing were a great hit with the children, and we were able to witness their adorable smiles.
The soaps sold at the Craft Corner were lovely, and the Craft Workshop was enjoyable.
Compared to last year, there were a wider variety of foods for a reasonable price points, allowing us to enjoy a nice array of different dishes.
The lunch/bento choices were delicious, and the shaved ice and ice cream were a big hit with the children. We hope you will continue these choices next time.
The vegetables and fruit sold out before the final price cuts! The sweets, rice, and other goods were also quite popular.
The raffle was really fun, and I hope you will continue doing them next time. I was gratified to see its success, which highlights the generous donations from businesses and individuals (parents) from Kodomo no Ie and their warmth toward the Tohoku Earthquake reconstruction efforts.
I felt it could be possible to conduct the raffle/auction separate from the bazar.
I thought it was marvelous that the many committee members and volunteers came together to organize and participate in this event.
By volunteering, I was able to meet with many other parents I would not have otherwise met and was an invaluable experience. Getting to know parents from different classes is one of the best parts of volunteering for the bazar.
3. About Sports Day (from the Sports Day Committee)
[Making red and white balls for the Bean Bag Ball Toss Game]
Every few years, parents have made the red/white bean bags for this game. This year we continue to ask for your generous help. These bean bags will be used this year and for years to come, and we request every one to pitch in. The schedule is as follows:
4/17 (Fri) ~ red/white cloth, a medium sized dashi-bag, instructions kit will be placed in the student’s bag. Each family is responsible for one red and one white bean bag, for a total of 2 bean bags.
5/8 (Fri): submission deadline. Please place one red and one white bean bag in the ziplock bag provided and place them in the box next to the attendance sheet.
4/29 (Wed), 30 (Thurs), 5/1 (Fri): We are considering borrowing one of the church’s classrooms during school hours to set up a bean bag making room.
If you can make more than one set of bean bags, please contact a Class Mother.
[Parent Volunteers]
We are calling to recruit those who signed up at the beginning of the academic year, parents of new students, those who could not volunteer during the Christmas Show or the Mochi Festival, and those who have yet to volunteer. For those of you volunteering, please check your email for a message from the Sports Day Committee. The Committee needs to learn whether mothers or fathers will be volunteering in order to divide up the jobs, so we are counting on your timely responses. Other than those referenced above, we would ecstatically welcome anyone else who wishes to volunteer. Please contact a committee member, Parent Association member or a Class Mother.
[Team Divisions]
At Sports Day, teams will be divided by Younger Class (Nen-Sho), Middle Class (Nen-Chu), Oldest Class (Nen-Cho). A student may be enrolled in a Middle Class (Nen-Chu) but participate in competitions as a Younger Class student or vice versa. If your child is one of these students, a class mother will explain which team your child will compete under.
[Bentos]
As in previous years, this year the Sports Day Bentos will be provided by Tozai of South San Gabriel. The cost is $7.50 for adult’s lunches and $5 for children’s lunches. Order forms were placed in your child’s Message Binder. Please place your order form and check (made out to “Kodomo no Ie”) in the box next to the attendance sheet by May 2nd (Sat).
[Canopies]
We are requesting each class provide at least 4 canopies for the seating area / cheering area. We will ensure that those volunteering their canopies will secure a preferential seat in their class area. Please contact your class mother if you have a canopy to lend.

On the day of the event, notification of delay/cancellation will be communicated via phone, so please reconfirm your emergency contact information.
4. End of the Year Gift from the Parents Association (Treasurer)
Regarding the gift for the teachers at the end of the year
・Buying gifts cards for the teachers was approved at the Class Mothers meeting.
Regarding the content and purchase of the gift for Kodomo no Ie
・Based on Encho-sensei’s request, the Committee approved:
the purchase of 2 tents with the Kodomo no Ie logo which will be used at Sports Day and other events
a joint gift from Sakura gumi and the Parents Association of a ramada above the sand box.
5. About the Little Tokyo Service Center Fund
The Little Tokyo Service Center approached Encho Sensei offering to set up a lecture fund.
・ Parent Association members and Class Mothers came up with two potential lecture topics: CPR training, and Immersion Education. At the Class Mothers meeting a majority voted first to request the CPR training course/lecture. If there is enough interest in Immersion Education, we may offer a fee-based lecture.
6. Fundraising Information (Ms. Ikudome)
Thank you for your participation in t-shirt sales. We will make sure to hand out the t-shirts before Sports Day. As the color choices were quite confusing this time, we will be mindful of this in the future. The t-shirts we chose during this cycle are of good quality, so we don’t foresee a lot of shrinkage in the wash. However, the color may bleed, so please be careful.
At the Bazar, $120 worth of soaps and items with the Kodomo no Ie logo (made by Ms. Ikudome) were sold. There are still some used Kodomo no Ie t-shirts available in the office. Interested persons should please come by to look.
Starting April 17th (Fri), we will begin selling Scrip (gift cards). The deadline is May 9th (Sat), and the gift cards are scheduled to arrive by the end of May. Please make sure to purchase some gift cards.
7. From Encho Sensei
During Spring Break I returned to Japan and took the opportunity to send 250,000 yen to the Kesennuma Shishiori Elementary School as part of the Tohoku Earthquake Relief Donation. The donation amount was a sum of the sales from the Parent Association’s Bazar and a small personal donation I added. The new principal emailed to tell me that the funds would be used to purchase new books.
We were able to have students from every class pull a daikon. Since the Sakura gumi children plowed the garden, we are now asking for household compost. Please bring vegetable and fruit peelings, eggshells, fish, coffee, etc and place in the compost box located next to the shoeboxes.
Kiku gumi students are diligently practicing singing their songs for the upcoming visit to Keiro home. Parents, please make sure you are apprised of the information about the bus ride and other relevant information.
Because we have fewer and fewer red and white bean bags used for Sports Day, the Sports Day Committee has kindly offered to have parents make the red and white bean bags for this year and future Sports Days. Thank you so much for your support.
Sports Day is the final event of the year, and we look forward to all of your support in the preparation leading up to the event day.

We are currently enrolling students for summer school and for the next academic year.
