2015年度 第9回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１．会計より
・年度末の先生方へのギフトとお礼状について→先生方へ父母会から、年度末にお礼状とギフトカードをお贈りします。お礼状には、役員、クラスマザーが皆様を代表してメッセージを書かせていただきます。
・父母会から園へのギフトについて→木琴と、園の行事で使っていたカラオケマシーンが壊れたので、新しいPAシステム、マイクに決まりました。
２．来年度の役員と引き継ぎについて（ドリオ会長）
・まだ未定なので夏休み前までに決まれば理想です。
・会長、副会長、何人でも良いと思います。今年は副会長に行事委員も兼ねていただき、仕事量が多かったのですが、父母会の運営としては理想的でした。話も早く済み、各行事の進行も把握出来ました。
・形にこだわらず、各クラスマザーさんで月ごとに進行するも良し、書記もクラスマザーさんで回すのも良いと思います。みんなでやっていくのが理想です。ドリオ会長からもアドバイス出来るので、是非前向きに考えて下さい。
３．きく組敬老ホーム報告、クラスマザーの感想等（きく組）
・お年寄りの方に喜んでもらえました。帰りは寝ていた子供も。
・特に問題もなく成功だったと思います。
・はじめ、バスがサンゲーブルBlvd に停まっていて見付からなくエルムAveに移動してもらったが、その際、教会関係者の車が路上駐車しており、声掛けして移動してもらった。今後はあらかじめコーン等を立てるなどして、バス駐車用のスペースを用意しておく必要があると思います。
４．運動会に向けて（園長先生、運動会委員より）
・運動会についての説明と注意事項
・こどもの家の運動会は、皆様のボランティアのご協力がないと成り立たないのでどうぞ積極的にボランティアをしていただけるよう、よろしくお願いします。
場所：Oak Avenue Intermediate School（6623 Oak Ave. Temple City, CA 91780）
集合(一般)：8:30
開始：9:00
・今週、月･火曜日に、れんげ組・もも組・すみれ組の名札を預かります。水・木・金曜日に帽子と一緒に名札をお渡しします。年少組に通っている園児で白組に出る子には白のビニールテープがついています。年中組に通っているけれども赤組に出る子には赤のビニールテープがついています。
・用具置き場で子供たちが遊ばなように注意してください。
・けがをしたり、具合が悪くなったらドクターに診てもらってください。ドクターはさくら組でご家族と観戦されています。十字の腕章をつけています。
・「準備体操」では保護者も一緒に体操してください。
・「かけっこ」ではさくら組以外の園児は入場門に整列してください。
・「障害物競争」では5人づつスタートします。さくら組以外の土曜クラスは男女別、学年別にスタートします。
・「大たるころがし」では複数取っている園児の保護者は金曜日クラスを優先してください。
・「トトロの散歩」は年少組対象の保護者と一緒の競技です。新しい種目です。1レース5組でスタートし、かごからトトロのお面を取って後ろに被り、保護者がトンネルまでソリを引きます。次の一本橋では保護者は子供が落ちないように手を繋いで下さい。3つの滑り台のうちどれかを滑ってカゴの中のどんぐりを取ってゴール。ドングリとお面はお土産。
・「冒険コースで出発」の後に帽子の色が変わっていても元に戻さないでください。先生たちが人数を調整したもので、その後の「綱引きと」「玉入れ」に、その帽子の色で出場します。よちよち歩きのボランティアの方は子供を足の甲に乗せて歩くことになるので、サンダルでなく運動靴などを履いてきて下さい。
・「小さなお客様」では抱っこしてでも良いので是非参加してください。
・「パン食い競争」はお父さんお母さん両方でも構いませんので、是非ご参加お願いします。
・「つなひき」では紅白に分かれて2～3回戦行います。お母さんチームVS お父さんチームもあります。ご参加お願いします。
・午後のプログラム開始は12時15分からとなっていますが、午前中の進行状況によっては早まることもあります。午後の開始時間は園長先生よりお知らせしますが、開始10分前にもアナウンスしますので、トイレなどを済ませておいてください。午後の最初の競技は全員参加です。
・「ポンポンとパラバルーン」のパラバルーンの曲は日本語学校の生徒、佐野さんのお父様が担当してくださいました。題名は色々悩んだ結果「思い出」にしました。
・「フォークダンス」ではお母さんと一緒に踊ります。二重の円を作って下さい。さくら組の円が内側、さくら組以外の円が外側。お母さんが円の内側、子供が外側になるように並んで下さい。さくら組は終わったらリレーに備えて待機してください。
・「力を合わせて」では最初の二人三脚で足を強く結び過ぎると後でなかなかほどけなくなるので、ご注意ください。風船の膨らみが小さいとなかなか割れません。
・「帽子取り」では取った帽子は本部に戻し、取られた自分の帽子は本部まで取りに来てください。この時の為に自分の帽子の番号を覚えておく必要があります。
・閉会式では先生が園児にメダルをかけジェット風船を渡します。どうぞ保護者が膨らまして下さい。園歌まで膨らませた状態で持ち、保護者の方が離して下さい。子供が拾ってお土産として持って帰ります。
・ゴミはゴミ箱に捨て、綺麗にして帰って下さい。
・キャノピーは、たくさんの方々から貸し出しのご協力をいただきました。ありがとうございます。貸出してくださった方々には、場所の優先的確保、ドロップオフ＆ピックアップなどについて、クラスマザーから詳細のご連絡をさせていただいています。
５．ファンドレーズのご案内（幾留さん）
・スクリップは今週中に配り終える予定です。前半は数件ほどでしたが、一斉メールを出した後半から盛り返しました。＄1,000、＄2,000単位で購入してくださったかたもいらっしゃり、額面は＄10,000を超えました。収益は＄500未満です。
・See's Candies、スターバックス、洋服関係のスクリップが多く出た2年前の冬は、額面は今回と同じ＄10,000を越えましたが、収益は＄1,000ありました。今回はガソリンなど％の少ない物が多かった事が、収益が抑えられた理由でした。
・参加していただけた事に感謝いたします。ファンドレイズ全体の収益は6月に報告します。皆さま、ご協力本当にありがとうございました。
・マルカイ・トーキョーセントラルのレシートも募集していますが、なるべく過去2～3ヶ月以内のものをお願いします。お財布にあったらその都度カゴに入れてください。
６．園長先生より
・１年の最後のイベントの運動会が、皆様のお力をお借りしてスムーズに進行し和やかに良い会になりますよう、ご協力をお願いします。
2015 May Class Mother/Father Meeting
1. From Treasurer End of the year gifts and thank you cards for the teachers
‐KNI Parents Association will prepare gift cards along with thank you cards for the teachers. The Class Mothers and KNI representatives will write the card on behalf of all the parents.
‐Gifts for KNI from KNI Parents Association KNI Parents Association decided to gift a xylophone, a new PA system, and microphones since the old Karaoke machine broke.
2. New KNI Board Member Candidates for next year (President Dorio)
-Positions for the board members are not decided yet, but it is ideal if we could have decisions before the summer break.
-It is possible to have several presidents and vice-presidents. This year, the vice-presidents also steered event committees. This was a lot of work for them, but created the ideal management environment for the Parents Association. Discussions moved swiftly and it was easy to grasp the proceedings.
-We should not insist on formalities. Class Mothers/Fathers can get together and elect a person in charge to handle the matters on month-by-month basis. The same principle applies to the secretary position. It is better if everyone gets involved. I am willing to give advice, so, please consider volunteering!
3. Kiku Class Keiro Nursing Home visit, comments and opinions -The elders were very happy. Some children fell asleep on the way back to KNI.
-It was a success, without having any major problems!
-When the bus arrived it parked on San Gable Blvd so that it was hard to find. Later we asked the bus to be moved to Elm Ave, but the space was already occupied by church-affiliated cars. We had to ask the church to move their cars for us. It is probably better to reserve the space for parking for the event day by placing some safety cones.
4. Sports Day
(Encho Sensei, Sports Day Committee)
-Schedule for the day and other notifications:
-The success of this even depends on your support! Please help us by volunteering for this event.
Place: Oak Avenue Intermediate School (6623 Oak Ave, Temple City, CA 91780)
Time (for general public):
The place opens at 8:30 a.m.
The event starts at 9:00 a.m.
-On May 16 (Mon) and 17 (Tue), we are going to borrow children’s nametags for Renge, Sumire, and Momo. The following Wednesday through Friday, we will distribute caps with nametags. Children who are in this group but will play as “White” group have a cap with a white tape on. Those who are in Kiku and Ume, but will be playing as “Red” have a cap with a red tape on.
-Please refrain from playing with the event equipment at the storage area.
-In case of injuries or any occasion that need medical attention, please visit our doctor on site. The doctor will be under the “Sakura” canopy. Please find a person with an arm badge with cross.
-We encourage the parents/guardians to join the children for the “Taiso” (warm-up exercises).
-For the Sprint Race, classes other than Sakura need to come to the gate.
-The Obstacle Race will have 5 children for each race. Saturday classes other than Sakura will have separate groups based on their gender and class.
-Totoro’s Day Out is for the smaller children (Renge/Momo/Sumire), and this is new! Each race has 5 parent (or guardian)-child pairs. First, get a Totoro mask from a basket and put it on a child’s head (make sure to put the Totoro face at the back of the child’s head, since it makes it easier). Then put the child on the sled, and pull it to the tunnel. A child then goes through the tunnel, and runs to a bridge. Make sure to hold his/her hand while a child crosses it. Then a child goes downa slide (pick available one), pick an acorn, then the goal! Acorn and the Totoro mask are the souvenirs.
-Please keep your child’s hat color after Take off to the Adventure Course” even if it has changed. The change is made to equate the numbers of children who participate in the following “Tug of War” and “Bean Bag Toss”.
-For the volunteers for “Circuit Game”, make sure you wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers, not sandals). You will be walking with a child on your feet.
-Please join “Little Kids Race” if you have infants. It is OK for a parent to hold the baby when participating the game.
-Parents, please join the “Donut Hunting Race”. Both parents can join the game!
-We will have two to three Tug of Wars for the red and white teams, then there will be mothers vs. fathers. Parents, please join!
-The afternoon program is scheduled to begin at 12:15. However, depending on the day’s flow, it is possible the afternoon program will begin before this time, the starting time of afternoon program will be announced by Encho Sensei at the school’s discretion, so we ask that the students to go to the restroom as soon as possible during lunch break. There will be an announcement 10 min prior to the beginning of the afternoon program. All the children will attend the first event of afternoon which is “Pom Pom and Para Balloon”.
-The song for “Pom Pom and Para Balloon” is composed by the father of Sano-san (student of the Japanese Language School). The title of the song, after much consideration, became “The Memories”.
-“Folk Dance” is for parent-child pairs. Please make a small circle surrounded by a larger circle. Sakura children and parents will be forming the inner circle, and every other class will be making the outer circle. Make sure that children will be on the outer side of the each circle. Sakura will have relay immediately after the dances, so, please gather at the entrance gate after the dance for preparation.
-Be careful not to tie the legs too tightly for three-legged race for “Power Combo” since it will be difficult to remove. Also, please know smaller balloons are harder to pop.
- The hats that are taken at “Grab the Cap Game” need to be brought back at the administration. Those who lost the hats during the game, please come by at the admin tent for pickup. Please remember the number assigned for the child’s hat.
-In the closing ceremony, children will receive a medal and a rocket balloon. Please inflate the balloon for the children. Hold on to it to the end of the KNI song, then release. These are also souvenirs, so, please feel free to pick them up and take them home.
-Please pick up the trash before you leave. There will be several trash bins in the field.
- Thank you to all the families that are lending out their canopy/tent. Please look out for reserved seating and drop off/pick up instructions from the Class Mothers. Thank you very much! 5. Fundraising
(Mrs. Ikudome) -Scrip distribution will be finished within this week. Although we only had several orders at first, we ended up receiving many orders toward the due date (thanks to the email notification). Some ordered over $1,000 and $2,000, and the total amount of orders exceeded $10,000. Our profit will be less than $500.
-The scrip sale two years ago also exceeded $10,000, but our profit was $1,000. It was due to the items purchased (See’s Candies, Starbucks, Apparels) which had higher kickback percentage. This year, the items purchased the most had less kickback percentage (such as Gasoline), resulted in less profit for KNI.
-We are still accepting Marukai/Tokyo Central receipts, but we appreciate newer ones (within 2-3 month from your purchase). Please make sure to check and drop them off in time!
-Thank you for the continuing support for KNI. This year’s overall result will be reported in June.
6. Encho Sensei
The upcoming Sports Day will be our last event of this year! I look forward to having all your support to make this event happy and smooth. Let’s make sure to end this school year by making Sports Day a success!

2015年度 第8回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１．あきらさんのお料理教室報告
・参加人数は、「ちょうど良い」との回答が19名中18名。席順を変えたことも、好意的に受け入れられてよかった。
・メニューは、参加者全員が「大変満足」または「満足」と回答。「大変満足」の回答が昨年より２％アップ。家庭でも作りやすい、親しみやすいメニューであったためだと思われる。
・参加費についても、全員が「普通」または「安い」との回答。「高い」という声はなかった。
・次回の講習会に向けてのメニューのリクエストが多数あるため、来年に生かしていけたらと思う。
・参加者からの感想やコメントは、ほとんどが「楽しかった」「幸せだった」「次回もぜひ参加したい」「すぐに作れそうでよかった」というように好意的なものだった。
・アキラさんからも、「今年はスムーズでしたね」とお褒めの言葉をいただいた。
・席順を変えたこと、アキラさんに事前に参加者からの質問事項を送っておいたことなどから、試食会でのトークも盛り上がり、いい雰囲気にできたことは、とてもよかった。
・今回のお料理教室の成功は、アキラさんのお人柄とお料理の美味しさはもちろんのこと、縁の下の力持ちであった料理教室委員のチームワークによるところも大きいと思う。今年は、アキラさんのアシスタントがいらっしゃらなかったため、ほとんど、ボランティアで回していたが、アキラさんに盛り付けを褒められるなど、チームワークもクオリティも抜群だった。
・アキラさんが最後に「時間があるから」といってオムレツを作ってくださるなど、とても穏やかな雰囲気だったことが印象的だった。

【キャノピー】クラスごとにキャノピーを集めています。貸出してくださる方は、クラスマザーまでご連絡ください。貸出家庭が優先的に座れるようにします。また、多く集まった場合は、足りないクラスに貸し出す可能性があることをご了承ください。
【緊急連絡網】運動会当日の緊急連絡は電話で回ってきますので、再度、緊急連絡網の確認をしておいてください。（すでに連絡網を持っているさくら・きく以外のクラスには、4月中旬にお便りばさみを通じて連絡網のコピー、メールにてPDF版を送付・送信）。
３．年度末の父母会からのギフト
・今年も年度末に、先生方・オフィス・教会の方々へ、ギフトを贈らせていただきます。

→すでに寄付させていただくことが決まっているVHSからDVDへの変換デッキと園庭のテント、その他園長先生からリクエストをいただいた木琴を購入予定。
・第3回お気持ちWEEK
→バザーで玩具や服、日用品を扱わなかったこともあり、開催のリクエストもあるため、今年度最後のお気持ちWEEKを行うことが、クラスマザー会にて決定。4月18日（月）～5月2日（月）まで。

・売上の25％を、気仙沼市鹿折小学校へ寄付させていただきました。

・やぐらが頑丈になりました。ありがとうございます。サマースクール前の6月には、白アリ被害がある正面入り口前の3本の柱を修復する予定です。
・運動会の準備もおかげさまで、順調に進んでおります。運動会の注意事項などは、書面だけでは伝わりにくいこともありますので、母の日参観の懇談会にぜひ残っていただき、説明を聞いていただけますようお願いします。
・サマースクールと新年度の園児募集中です。

2016 8th Class Mother Meeting
１．Chef Akira’s Cooking Class
・18 of the 19 participants responded that they felt the number of participants were “just right.” The change in seating arrangement was also favorably reviewed.
・Regarding the menu, the participants replied that they were “very satisfied” or “satisfied,” which is a 2% increase in satisfaction compared to last year. The favorable response may partly be due to menu items being especially “approachable”and easy to replicate at home.
・Everyone agreed that the participation fee is “reasonable” or “inexpensive.” No one responded that the fee was “too expensive.”
・Menu requests for the next meeting are very plentiful. We would like to consider these requests when we decide next year’s menu with Chef Akira.
・Participant comments were unanimously positive. Comments include: “it was fun”; “the class made me happy”; “I hope to participate next year“; “I felt I could go home and make it right away.”
・Chef Akira also commented that “this year went very smoothly.”
・Changing the seating arrangement, sending Chef Akira questions ahead of time made the tasting and talk very lively and enjoyable for everyone.
・We attribute this year’s success to Chef Akira’s wonderful personality and his delicious food – of course. Beyond this, the cooking class committee did a fantastic job. Even though Chef Akira’s assistant could not participate this year, volunteers were able to compensate in assisting, plating, and so on.
・At the end Chef Akira said that “because we have time” he made an omelette, which ended the class with a serene, impressive atmosphere.
２．Sports Day
＜Lunch Box Orders＞
・Just like last year this year, we will order from Tozai Foods Market. In previous years we have always received a discounted price. This year we have decided to increase costs by 50 cents.
・Orders should be turned into the box by the attendance sheet. Please pay by check.
＊Checks should be made out to “Kodomo no Ie”. Please do not abbreviate to“KNI”.

【Class grouping】 For those whose children are in multiple grades, please make sure with your class mother which class group your child will be assigned to. (Example: Students in both lower and upper level classes may end up competing with lower level students)
【Tents/Canopies】 We are collecting tents/canopies by class. If you could lend your tent to us, please inform the class mother or father. They will make sure your family is seated in a shady spot. We plan to lend any extra tents to other classes who may not have enough.
【Emergency phone tree】 Any emergency information on Sports Day will be delivered via this phone tree, so please make sure that your information is up to date. (Sakura and Kiku gumi already have a phone tree from earlier in the year. All other classes will have received a telephone tree sheet in their child’s folder, as well as a PDF version via email.)
３．Year End Gift from the Parent Association
・As with all previous years we will give a gift to the teachers, office staff, and church members.
Regarding the gift to KNI:
→There is the VHS to DVD converter that has already been donated, as well as the tent in the yard. We also plan to obtain xylophone, which was requested by Encho Sensei.
Third Mini Rummage Sale
→Partially because this year’s bazaar did not have any toys, clothes, or daily items for sale, we are holding the third and final mini rummage sale for the year. 4/18 (Mon) ~ 5/2 (Mon)
４．Parent Association Bazaar Information
・Bazaar revenue：$2,686.93（Last year: $3,612.75）
・Bazaar net income （minus expenses）：$2,409.64（last year: $3,198.94）
・This year’s bazaar was overwhelmingly successful. Many thanks to the bazaar committee members, volunteers, and to everyone who donated their services toward the raffle and auction.
・25% of profits will be donated to Shishiori Elementary School in Kesennuma City.

・The playground is now sturdy and secure. Thank you so much. We also plan to change three termite-damaged posts in June, before the start of summer school.
・Thanks to everyone’s efforts, Sports Day preparations are going according to schedule. There is, however, a lot of important information that can’t be properly explained on paper and best conveyed in person, so please attend the Mother’s Day Observation Day and the meeting right after.
・We are now enrolling students for summer school and new 2015-2016 year.

2015年度 第7回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１．父母の会バザーについて（バザー委員より）
・ 企業ドネーション：西本Wismettacグループさんから餃子をたくさん頂きました。冷凍で、サンプルとして餃子弁当でも販売しました。その他、ＪＦＣ・サンリオ製品、野菜、フルーツ、ラッフル含め、来月のクラスマザー会にて報告します。
・前売りチケット：＄5〜600の売り上げになってます。
・紙芝居：11：30〜。駄菓子(1袋＄1)やレモネードも販売しました。
・ファンドレーズブース(幾留さん)：サンプルＴシャツを過去のも含めて安価で売ります。ロゴ入り巾着や漢字下敷きも販売しました。
２．さくら組 ひな祭りの集いについての報告と感想（さくら組クラスマザー）
・園児の、お内裏様・お雛様の作品を保護者以外の方が持って帰りそうになった。今後は「保護者用」と英語での説明の入った、毎年使えるような張り紙が必要かと思われた。
・リハーサルも時間通りに終了出来て良かった。
・本番の天気もちょうど良かった。
・園児の着替え中、クラスマザーが着替えを終えた子供達に本読みをしてあげたり、子供達が走り回らないように見てあげていれば、もっと先生方のお着替えがスムーズにできるのでは？
３．アキラさんのお料理教室について（会長）
・3月16日ですが、すでに定員も埋まりました。
・園だよりではキャンセル期日が3月11日となっていましたが、3月9日の誤りです。
４．運動会委員の選出について（カーマイケル副会長）
・副会長含め、７名委員が決まりました。春休み中にミーティングしたいと思います。
５．来年度役員選出について（会長）
・役員に興味のある方がいたら、やるやらないに関係なく連絡を頂きたいと思います。
・園の良さを知ってもらう良い機会です。
・副会長を3人に増やしてとても良かった。会長も複数でもよいのでは。

・本日、アスパイア（カタログ販売）の商品が届きます。明日(10日)からお配りします。

・訪問後はお年寄りの方たちが本当に幸せそうな顔になり、ホーム内の状況が劇的によくなる。おじいちゃんおばあちゃん達に会って、子供達も、戸惑いながらも自分達の役割をよくわかっており、目に見えない優しさがあふれる。子供達の成長も感じる事ができる。こういう機会をこどもの家で与えてもらい、本当にありがたいと思う。

８．園長先生より
・ひな祭りでも、お天気に恵まれて済ますことができ本当に良かったと思います。写真撮影が延びてしまった事は申し訳ありませんでした。
・ひな祭りの反省については、リハーサルの時に子供に浴衣を着せるのがいっぱいで先生達も手がまわらなく、浴衣を着た子供が部屋の中を走り回っていた。本番ではそうならないよう、本をたくさん持っていき、浴衣を着た子供は本を読んで落ち着いていた。
・今後のスケジュールについてはさくら組以外は懇談会にてお伝えしました。
・やぐらの補修工事は春休み中にいたします。
・今年もOak Avenue Intermediate School（6623 Oak Ave. Temple City, CA 91780）にて運動会を行います。運動会は最後の行事なので、アットホーム的な、こどもの家らしい運動会ができたら良いと思いますので、どうかよろしくお願いします。
９．ロサンゼルス市立図書館読み聞かせのご案内
・父母の会バザーにて紙芝居を披露してくださる方が、 ロサンゼルス市立図書館でも読み聞かせをされています。行くたびにスタンプがもらえ、3個たまると本がもらえるそうです。ご興味のある方は是非別紙を参照して下さい。

・We received generous donation of frozen Gyoza from Nishimoto Wismettac Group.Some of them were sold as Gyoza Bento at the event.

・Also, drawstring bags with KNI logo and Kanji plastic sheets were sold at this booth.
2. Sakura Class HINAMATSURI thoughts and reports
(Sakura Class Mothers/Fathers)
・Some people (not the parents/guardian of KNI children) almost took the displayed Hina dolls KNI children made for this event. We may need to post a sign saying “For Parents/Guardians Only” which can be used every year.
・We were able to finish rehearsal on time!
・The weather was perfect.
・It may be better if Class Mothers were to look after children who finished changing so that they won’t run around, which gives time for KNI teachers to help change children's attire.
3. Chef Akira Cooking Class(President)
・The date for this event is March 16, and it is already fully booked.
・The deadline for the sign up was actually March 9th, instead of March 11th which was on the KNI Newsletter.
4. Selection of the Sports Day Committee(Vice President: Carmichael)
・Seven committee members including the vice president have been selected. We scheduled our first meeting during the Spring break.
5. KNI Parent Association Board Members 2015-2016(President)
・We are recruiting KNI Parent Association Board Members for the 2016-2017 school year. If you know anyone who might be interested in, please inform us! No actual commitment necessary at this point.
・These positions are a great opportunity to get to know KNI and to meet and bond with fellow mothers.
・Now we have three vice-presidents, which was a good move. It may also be a good idea to have several presidents, too.
6. Fundraiser(Mrs. Ikudome)
・Items from the ASPIRE catalogs will be distributed by tomorrow (March 10th). Thank you for your support!
・We are also accepting orders for T-shirts and lunch bags. Please let anyone know. -The last SCRIPS fundraiser for this school year will begin from the mid April to the end of that month. Ordered merchandise will be delivered by mid May.
・SCRIPS also include See’s Candies and pre-paid gas cards, and they are going to be sold at KNI Bazaar. Please use them when purchasing souvenirs before going back to Japan for the summer.
・Fundraising by air tickets
We heard that AMNET received over 10 inquiries from places such as Japan and Portland. We receive $10 donation for each person purchasing to school. This donation is still possible with normal discounted airline ticket purchases, but that will not be under this special campaign. For IACE Travel, make sure to call the Los Angeles branch since this is the only location that will support KNI. Please refer that the donation is for KNI, and there will be $5 donation per person.
7. Kiku Class Keiro Nursing Home Visit
・Date: 4/18 (Monday) the class will depart KNI at 1 p.m. and come back by 3 p.m.
・The visit by KNI children brings happiness to the elderly, and greatly improves the environment of the Nursing home.
・When children meet them, they may hesitate for some time. But children do know what role they have, and the room is filled with warm, but invisible kindness. We also can feel the children grow. We are grateful to be provided with such a wonderful opportunity. -The Photography committee will accompany the visit. Please enjoy the pictures of the day uploaded to Flickr.

・We were extremely lucky to hold our HINAMATSURI performance on such a beautiful day. But I am truly sorry for the delayed schedule for picture taking.
・The reflections for HINAMATSURI would be that the KNI teachers were too busy changing children into Yukata to take care of them on the rehearsal day, so children who finished changing were running around. For the actual event, we brought many books that children could read after they are done with changing, which calmed them down. -The upcoming schedule for KNI has already been told at the class meeting after the Parents Day except Sakura.
・The repair on the play structure on the KNI grounds will take place during our spring break.
・UNDOKAI, Sports Day will be held at Oak Avenue Intermediate School (6633 Oak Ave, Temple City, CA 91780), same as the last year. This will be the last event for this school year, and I hope for everyone’s efforts and corporations for making this event unforgettable.
9. Information on Picture Story Show (kami-shibai) at Los Angeles Public Library
・The person who did the Picture Story Show at KNI Bazaar also holds story times at Los Angeles Public Library. Children receive a stamp for each attendance, and when they collect 3 stamps, they can receive a book!

１．父母の会バザーについて（バザー委員より）
・ 企業ドネーション：西本Wismettacグループさんから餃子をたくさん頂きました。冷凍で、サンプルとして餃子弁当でも販売しました。その他、ＪＦＣ・サンリオ製品、野菜、フルーツ、ラッフル含め、来月のクラスマザー会にて報告します。
・前売りチケット：＄5〜600の売り上げになってます。
・紙芝居：11：30〜。駄菓子(1袋＄1)やレモネードも販売しました。
・ファンドレーズブース(幾留さん)：サンプルＴシャツを過去のも含めて安価で売ります。ロゴ入り巾着や漢字下敷きも販売しました。
２．さくら組 ひな祭りの集いについての報告と感想（さくら組クラスマザー）
・園児の、お内裏様・お雛様の作品を保護者以外の方が持って帰りそうになった。今後は「保護者用」と英語での説明の入った、毎年使えるような張り紙が必要かと思われた。
・リハーサルも時間通りに終了出来て良かった。
・本番の天気もちょうど良かった。
・園児の着替え中、クラスマザーが着替えを終えた子供達に本読みをしてあげたり、子供達が走り回らないように見てあげていれば、もっと先生方のお着替えがスムーズにできるのでは？
３．アキラさんのお料理教室について（会長）
・3月16日ですが、すでに定員も埋まりました。
・園だよりではキャンセル期日が3月11日となっていましたが、3月9日の誤りです。
４．運動会委員の選出について（カーマイケル副会長）
・副会長含め、７名委員が決まりました。春休み中にミーティングしたいと思います。
５．来年度役員選出について（会長）
・役員に興味のある方がいたら、やるやらないに関係なく連絡を頂きたいと思います。
・園の良さを知ってもらう良い機会です。
・副会長を3人に増やしてとても良かった。会長も複数でもよいのでは。

2015年度 第6回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１．お餅つき大会反省など（お餅つき行事委員・クラスマザーより）
来場者562人（昨年は481人）
売上金1435ドル（昨年は1124ドル）
来場者数・売上ともに、昨年を上回る結果となりました。ボランティアをしてくださった皆様、来場者の皆様に感謝します。
【お餅つき委員・ボランティア・クラスマザーの感想・反省から一部抜粋】
・保護者の方々から、「今までの餅つき大会の中で1番良かった。まとまりがあってスムーズ。しかも、お餅もおいしかった」とのお言葉をいただいた。
・ずんだの評判がよかった。ずんだをわさびだと思った人が何人かいらした。のりを一度に10枚くらいごっそりとる子供が多かったので、最後は足りなかった。
・今年はお餅つき委員が去年より多かったので、作業が早くできた気がする。
・片付けにボランティアがいて、とても助かった。
・洗い場の方々が、こびりついたおもちを取るために、黙々と洗い物をしてくださり、本当に助かった。心から感謝したい。
・ボランティアと先生用のお餅と薬味をキッチンに置いておき、休憩時間や大会後に食べられるようにしておくといいのでは？
→（クラスマザー会にて）お餅をほとんど食べられないボランティアや先生方が多くいたので、ぜひそうしたい。
・委員の経験者がたくさんいたので全ての仕事がスムーズに進んだと思う。やはり経験者を絶やさないようにしていくことが重要。
・園内や園庭で多くの子供たちが遊んでおり、雑然としてしまった。
→（園長先生）今まで、ボランティアのベビーシッターは園庭で見ていただいていたので、今年の反省から、やはり園庭に限定していただいたほうがいいと思います。園内は基本的にトイレの使用のみ、また、園庭に子供が入る際には、保護者の方もご一緒にお願いします。
２．会計中間決算報告（会計）
・2015年度予算額7755.15ドルに対し、上半期の時点ですでに7514.51ドルの収入がある。
・高収入の理由は、2度のお気持ちウィーク（742.66ドル）、昨年より300ドル増となり、支出額もおさえられたために黒字となったお餅つき大会、予想より多い枚数を売り上げたクリスマス会DVDなど。お気持ちウィークからの収入の半額は園に寄付済。
・収入が好調であるため、来年度のイベント予備費予算を、昨年度からの繰り越しである既存の600ドルに、今年度より捻出する700ドルを加え、年度末には総額1300ドルにできる予定。

・おもちつき大会は素晴らしかったです。名人には、おもちつき終了後すぐにお手紙を出し、事前講習会をしていただいたお礼と、おもちつき大会成功のご報告をしました。「当日は都合が合わずに顔を出すことができなかった」とおっしゃっていましたが、「いつでも行きますので」と言っていただきました。
・個人面談を行っています。実際に保護者の方と面談をすると、園やご自宅での子供たちの様子もよくわかり、ご一緒にお子様の育ちを考えることのできるよい機会です。ぜひお申し込みください。来月のひなまつり懇談会でもお話ししようと思っています。

2015 6th Class Mother/Father Meeting Notes
１．Observations on the Mochi Festival（From the Mochi Festival Committee • Class Mothers/Fathers）
Visitors 562（Last year: 481）
Sales: $1435 (Last Year $1124)
The number of visitors, and sales went up compared to last year. We are grateful to the many volunteers and visitors who made this event a success.

・Many parents commented: “Best Mochi Festival, ever! Very organized and smooth. Moreover, the mochi was delicious!”
・The zunda (mashed edamame/soy beans) were very popular, though there were some who mistakenly thought the zunda was wasabi. Because there were a number of children who took over 10 pieces of nori at a time, we ran out of nori near the end.
・Compared to last year there were more volunteers, making one feel that the work went faster and was more efficient.
・Having clean-up volunteers was very helpful.
・The volunteers that tirelessly had to wash off the stuck-on mochi worked very deligently. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts.
・Should we leave some mochi and condiments in the kitchen so that teachers and volunteers may have access to them during breaks and after the event?
→（From Class mothers/fathers）There were many volunteers who were unable to enjoy very many, or any mochi at all, so this is a welcome suggestion.
・Having committee members with previous years’ experience really smoothed the process. Having veteran committee members is imperative.
・There were so many children in the house and the gardens. It was chaotic.
→（From Encho sensei）Henceforth, it is better we ask the baby sitters for volunteers’ children to restrict themselves to the outdoor area only and avoid entering the house. The house is basically only for bathroom use. To this end we also request that a parent always should accompany a child when entering to the outdoor area.
２．Mid-Year Financial Report（Treasurer）
・For 2015 fiscal year we estimated our budget to be $7755.15. Already at the end of the first half of the year we have generated $7514.51.
・The reason for the increase in revenue lies in the two Mini Rummage Sales ($742.66), an increase of $300 from last year; minimizing expenditures and maximizing profits for the Mochi Festival; better than anticipated sales of Christmas DVDs. We are donating half of the proceeds from the Mini Rummage Sales to KNI.
・Due to our better than expected revenue intake, we will add $700 to our previously estimated budget of $600 carried forward for next year’s events, giving an estimated total of $1300.

・Like the first Mini-Rummage sale, we were met with rain mid week and the quality of the donations were not as high as the first sale.

７．From Encho Sensei
・Thank you everyone for all of your work and support for the upcoming Bazaar.
・I thought the Mochi Festival was a marvelous success. We sent a thank you letter to the Mochi Master immediately after the event with a report of the festival’s great success. He explained that, although “I couldn’t find a good time to visit the event,” he expressed enthusiasm for returning “at any time.”
・We have begun parent teacher conferences. We encourage all parents to sign up. This is a great opportunity for both teachers and parents to compare how your child is at KNI and at home. We can also discuss how best to continue nurturing his/her growth for the remainder of the year and beyond. I plan to continue such conversations more generally at next month’s Hinamatsuri Observation Day as well.
・We will begin large scale repair work on the play structure on the KNI grounds. The current play structure was built for KNI’s 10th anniversary, so some parts of the wood have begun to deteriorate, some parts have termite damage, and in yet other places the wood has begun to warp a little. Diagonal struts for the structure and a pillar for the wooden awning will be placed during spring vacation in March. We can conduct such costly renovations thanks to the reserve fund created and accumulated by your fundraise events. We are truly grateful.

１．お餅つき大会反省など（お餅つき行事委員・クラスマザーより）
来場者562人（昨年は481人）
売上金1435ドル（昨年は1124ドル）
来場者数・売上ともに、昨年を上回る結果となりました。ボランティアをしてくださった皆様、来場者の皆様に感謝します。
【お餅つき委員・ボランティア・クラスマザーの感想・反省から一部抜粋】
・保護者の方々から、「今までの餅つき大会の中で1番良かった。まとまりがあってスムーズ。しかも、お餅もおいしかった」とのお言葉をいただいた。
・ずんだの評判がよかった。ずんだをわさびだと思った人が何人かいらした。のりを一度に10枚くらいごっそりとる子供が多かったので、最後は足りなかった。
・今年はお餅つき委員が去年より多かったので、作業が早くできた気がする。
・片付けにボランティアがいて、とても助かった。
・洗い場の方々が、こびりついたおもちを取るために、黙々と洗い物をしてくださり、本当に助かった。心から感謝したい。
・ボランティアと先生用のお餅と薬味をキッチンに置いておき、休憩時間や大会後に食べられるようにしておくといいのでは？
→（クラスマザー会にて）お餅をほとんど食べられないボランティアや先生方が多くいたので、ぜひそうしたい。
・委員の経験者がたくさんいたので全ての仕事がスムーズに進んだと思う。やはり経験者を絶やさないようにしていくことが重要。

Sales：$214.66（Half of this was donated to KNI）
・Like the first Mini-Rummage sale, we were met with rain mid week and the quality of the donations were not as high as the first sale.
・That said, the two sales generated a lot of revenue, allowing us to donate quite a bit to KNI.
・If there is interest, there’s a possibility of having one more Mini Rummage Sale week.

７．From Encho Sensei
・Thank you everyone for all of your work and support for the upcoming Bazaar.
・I thought the Mochi Festival was a marvelous success. We sent a thank you letter to the Mochi Master immediately after the event with a report of the festival’s great success. He explained that, although “I couldn’t find a good time to visit the event,” he expressed enthusiasm for returning “at any time.”
・We have begun parent teacher conferences. We encourage all parents to sign up. This is a great opportunity for both teachers and parents to compare how your child is at KNI and at home. We can also discuss how best to continue nurturing his/her growth for the remainder of the year and beyond. I plan to continue such conversations more generally at next month’s Hinamatsuri Observation Day as well.
・We will begin large scale repair work on the play structure on the KNI grounds. The current play structure was built for KNI’s 10th anniversary, so some parts of the wood have begun to deteriorate, some parts have termite damage, and in yet other places the wood has begun to warp a little. Diagonal struts for the structure and a pillar for the wooden awning will be placed during spring vacation in March. We can conduct such costly renovations thanks to the reserve fund created and accumulated by your fundraise events. We are truly grateful.

１．クリスマス会とおもちつき大会のお礼（園長先生より）
【クリスマス会】
クリスマス委員、クラスマザーさんをはじめ、保護者の皆さんががんばってくださり、ありがとうございました。子供たちも、リハーサル時間が少ないなか、ステージの高いところに上がるのも大変なことなのですが、一生懸命、歌ったり、楽器を演奏したりして、がんばりました。それぞれの学年の成長が見られて、とても嬉しかったです。いい形で新年を迎えることができたことに感謝しています。
【お餅つき大会】
最後までいいお餅が出てきて、皆が「おいしいね、おいしいね」と笑顔いっぱいだったことが嬉しかったです。準備日であった前日の土曜日には、先生たちにもベビーシッターとして来てもらったのですが、もち委員やボランティアと多くの保護者がいろいろな場所で手伝ってくださっている姿を見て、こどもの家は保護者の方々と一緒に作り上げているものなんだと、あらためて感銘を受けていました。本当にありがとうございました。当日の様子は、「羅府新報」（日系新聞）に大きく掲載されました！

アットホームで素敵な会でよかったです。初めての参加でしたが、あれだけの人数が集まるなか、時間通りにことが進み、子供の練習の成果をキチンと見る事ができ、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいでした。サンタが登場して、興奮する子ども達の笑顔が見られて感激しました。どのクラスのパフォーマンスもよかったのですが、特にさくら組の歌が始まったときは、会場全体が惹きつけられ、騒いでいた子供達も真剣に見ていた様子がとても印象的でした。
【写真係】
アルバムを見やすいように、年少、年中、さくら、リフレッシュメント、サンタさんと分けました。皆さんからのフィードバックをいただきたいです。
→（役員・クラスマザー一同）本当に見やすく、ダウンロードもしやすくて助かります。アルバムへのアクセス数も以前の数倍で、ShutterflyからFrickrに変更したことも大成功。写真委員リーダーのバッカー恵美さんの采配、素敵な写真を撮ってくださった写真係の皆さんに、心から感謝します。

おもちつき委員、ボランティア、クラスマザーの皆さん、ありがとうございました。

開催日：3月12日（土）午前11時～午後2時予定
バザー委員：8人決定（さくら4人、きく2人、れんげ・もも1人ずつ）＋副会長3人
内容：ベイクセール、お弁当などの食べもの／昨年好評だったラッフルやオークション／子供が楽しめるゲームやフェイスペイント／クラフト販売／サンリオショップ
特記事項：玩具、本、洋服などの取り扱いはなし→希望があれば、「第3回お気持ちWeek」を開催。
５．クリスマス会のDVDについて
実績：販売数142枚／販売金額710ドル
配布予定：１月下旬に各園児の鞄に入れて配布します。
特記事項：園長先生からもお話しがあるように、泣いていたり、一人でステージへ上がりたがらない年少の子は、保護者の方が抱っこしてでもステージに上がっていただいたほうがDVDに映り、記念になるので、今後はそうした呼びかけをしたいと思います。
６．その他
【VHSからDVDへの変換】
園にある30本ほどのVHSをDVDに変換し、3枚のコピーをとる作業は、さくら組のクラスマザー、役員を中心に進め、今年度のさくら組からの卒園記念品とさせていただきます。
【日本語CPR講座について】
昨年行ったため、今年はお休みし、来年の開催を考えるということが、クラスマザー会にて決定しました。
【アキラさんのお料理教室】
3月16日（水）れんげのクラス中の時間帯に決定。メニューが決まり次第、募集開始します。
【第2回お気持ちweek】
1月15日（金）～25日（月）まで開催。収益は園と父母会で折半させていただきます。
７．ファンドレースのご案内（幾留さん）
園便りにも詳細を記したとおり、今年度の売上は約3000ドルとなっています。リサイクルが大健闘したほか、事務所に買い置きしていたスクリップの売上も貢献しました。

「マルカイ」のレシートは、「東京セントラル」のものでもOKです。

2015 5th Class Mother/Father Meeting Minutes
1. Christmas Program, Mochitsuki Thank you (from Encho Sensei)
(Christmas Program)
• I am grateful for the support for this program by the Christmas committee members, Class Mothers, as well as KNI parents. With little rehearsal time, it is difficult for the children even to get on the stage, but they did great singing songs and playing instruments. I was delighted to see the growth and progress in each class. I am thankful that we were able to welcome the New Year in such a festive manner.
(Mochitsuki)
• I was glad that we had wonderful mochi throughout the event and everyone said “yum” and was full of smiles. On the preparation day (Saturday), KNI teachers came for babysitting duty for the volunteers. Realizing so many volunteers and the committee members had participated in this event, the teachers were again impressed that KNI is a place we create with parents. Thank you so much. The Rafu Shimpo (Los Angeles Daily Japanese News) ran a big article about this event!
2. Christmas Program (thoughts & reflection)

•The generous donations from companies and the baked-goods donations from KNI parents gave us great refreshments. Thank you!
(KNI Parents Association Committee/Class Mothers)
•The event had a nice, family oriented atmosphere. It was my first time participating, and I was grateful to see the program progressing according to the time table and to see the result of the practice in the children’s performance. I was moved when I saw the smiles in the children’s faces when Santa entered the hall. Each class performance was great; but I was especially impressed when the Sakura children started to sing; it seemed like the entire hall including the children who were making noises were attracted to the performance.

• We have divided the pictures into five groups: Momo/Renge/Sumire, Kiku/Ume, Sakura, refreshment, Santa Claus, in order for you to easily navigate through the albums. We would love to hear your feedback.

•It is much easier to see and download files, thank you! The access numbers for these albums also multiplied, thus, it was a huge success shifting from Shutterfly to Flickr. We thank Mrs. Megumi Bacher, on her leadership in the Photography Committee, and also to all the camera persons who took wonderful photos of the event!
3. Simplified Reports for the Mochitsuki
• Attendees: 562 people
• Proceeds from Donations: $1,435.00
• Thank you, Mochitsuki Committee, event volunteers, and Class Mothers!
• Detailed report will be ready next time.

• Bazaar Committee: 8 members (4 from Sakura, 2 from Kiku, and 1 each from Momo and Renge) and 3 vice presidents of the Parents Association
• Details: Food booth for bake sale and bento, etc. / Raffle and auction, which were popular last year/ game booths, face painting for children/ craft sale/ Sanrio shop
•Please note: No toys, books, clothes will be sold at the event. If there is demand for these items, we may hold another “mini-rummage sale”.
5. Christmas DVD Sales
• Result: 142 DVDs sold (total $710)
• Anticipated schedule for distribution: End of January, 2016 (you will find it in your child’s backpack.)
• Special Notice: As Encho Sensei has mentioned, in the future we will encourage parents to hold a child and get up on stage if s/he cries or refuses to do so (especially for the younger ones.) In that way, you can see the child in the DVD and will become a good memory.

• [Conversion from VHS to DVD]
Conversion of existing VHS tapes to DVD and making three copies for each DVD will be handled mainly by Sakura Class Mothers and Parents Association Committee members. The work will be Sakura’s graduation commemoration gift to KNI for this year.
• [CPR Class in Japanese]
There will not be another CPR class in Japanese for this year, since we just had one last year. The organization of this class for next year will be discussed in the future Class Mother Meeting.
• [Chef Akira’s Cooking Class]
Time and Date: March 16 (Wed) during Renge hours.
There will be an announcement and signup sheet for this event, once we set the menu.

Date: from Jan. 15 (Fri) to Jan. 25 (Mon)
The profit will be equally distributed between KNI and the Parents Association.

• As noted in the KNI newsletter, this year’s revenue reached $3,000 at this point. Recycling made a great contribution and the sale from the stocked scrip also contributed to the result thus far.
• We will be accepting orders for the second cycle of Aspire. The catalogs are going to be distributed in February.
• We accept receipts from either “Marukai” or “Tokyo-Central”.
