こどもの家 父母の会 ご案内
こどもの家では、保護者が関わり合い、協力しながら園をサポートしています。入園と同時に、こどもの家の園児の保護者は、自動的に父母の会の会員となり、園の行事や活動に参加することができます。
父母の会の主な目的：
・ 園の行事に協力
・ 園と家庭との連絡を図る
・ 保育上必要な施設・用具等の整備や援助
上記目的に基づいたボランティア活動を年間通して行います。
父母の会会費：
１家庭につき５ドルを年に一度、年度始めに納付していただきます。
（９月下旬にご案内を配布しますので、それに沿ってお納め下さい。それ以降は、１月のお餅つき大会までに入園された方が対象となります。なお、集まった会費は全て１月に行われるお餅つき大会の準備金に充てます。当日のお気持ちドネーションと合わせて、実際の費用を上回った場合は、年度末に園へ寄付させていただきます ）
ボランティアサインアップ：
年度始めに全員の方にご提出をお願いしております。登園初日にお配りする用紙に第１〜第３希望までをご記入し、回収箱に投函下さい。
父母の会関連行事と活動内容：
９月 クラス委員、各委員、各ボランティアの募集
１２月 クリスマス会（写真委員、DVD制作委員）
１月 餅つき大会（餅つき委員、餅つきボランティア）
２/３月 アキラさんの料理教室（料理委員）
４月 運動会（運動会準備ボランティア、競技ボランティア）
＊ バザーは希望がある場合のみ、春頃開催
＜コーディネーター＞ ３名程
年度始めに配布されるボランティアサインアップシートの集計並び、園、各委員とのパイプ役となります。また、父母の会・各委員からの一斉メールやお知らせ等配布物のコーディネートをします。
＜会計＞ ２名程
父母の会会費の集金・集計。また、父母の会の銀行アカウントの管理並び、経費の精算が主な仕事です。
＜クラス委員＞ 各クラス２-４名
保護者と園のパイプ役として、園の活動をスムーズに行う為の縁の下の力持ちになっていただきます。また、９、１２、４、５月の第２または第３水曜日の３時１５分から行われるクラス委員会に参加をお願いします。全クラス委員と先生方が一同に会し、行事の説明や意見交換をする場です。会議中は先生方がこども達を見て下さるので、安心です。その他、行事の際にもお手伝いをお願いすることがあります。
＜翻訳委員＞ ４-５名程
父母の会と各委員からのお知らせ等配布物や一斉メールを、日本語が読めない保護者のために翻訳していただくことが主な仕事です。基本的にメールでの連絡となるため、在宅でお仕事していただけます。
＜餅つき大会委員＞ ６-７名
1月に父母の会主催で開催される餅つき大会の準備、並びに当日の大会運営が主な仕事です。日本でも中々経験できないお餅つきを、LAで体験できる貴重な機会です。年々引き継がれているため、初めての方でも安心です。
＜餅つきボランティア＞ ４０名
餅つき大会の前日または当日２〜３時間ほどのお手伝いです。会場設営、受付、MC、餅切り、薬味の補充、キッチン、片付け等、内容は多岐に渡ります。父母の会主催のこのイベント、たくさんの方のご協力をお願いします。
＜運動会準備ボランティア＞ ７名程
運動会当日朝８時から会場設営のお手伝いと駐車場の案内係は、開会式前には終了するお仕事です。また、お昼前に発注のお弁当が到着次第、仕分けと配布のお手伝いも募集します。
＜運動会競技ボランティア＞ １３名程
運動会競技中のお手伝いです。園児が使用した用具を元の場所へ戻したり、補助をお願いします。
＜お料理教室委員＞ ６名程
パサデナでメゾン・アキラ（フレンチレストラン）を経営している広瀬陽（ひろせあきら）さんによる、１日のみの料理教室を毎年春ごろ開催します。アキラさんと相談しながら準備を進めていきます。
＜写真委員＞ ７名程
クリスマス会にて、保護者を代表して演目中に写真撮影をし、後日シェアサイトにアップしていただきます。特に一眼レフデジカメ所有の保護者には最適な係です。
＜DVD制作委員＞ ５-６名
１２月に開催されるクリスマス会にて、撮影、照明、音響、編集（後日）を担当していただきます。機材をお持ちで、経験のある方がいらしたら、ぜひご協力お願いします。
＜園整備委員＞ ５名程
園施設の整備や修復を手伝う委員です。教会との交渉等も必要なので、日本語ができる方は勿論、英語の得意な方も是非ご参加下さい。
＜バザー委員＞ ５名程
必須ではなく、有志が３人以上集まった年だけ行うファンドレージングです。2015年度は３月に開催し、2,500ドル以上を売り上げ、収益の一部は東北震災への義援金としても寄付されました。
＜その他＞ 若干名
上記以外にも特技を用いてご協力いただける方は、ボランティアサインアップシートにご記入いただくか、神野先生またはコーディネーターまで、お知らせ下さい。

KNI Parents Association Information
All parents of children attending Kodomo No Ie (KNI) automatically belong to the Parents Association (PA) and are given many opportunities to participate in various school activities and events. The PA aims to support KNI activities and to create a network among those who are involved.
Parents volunteer all year around to achieve goals such as:
・ To cooperate and assist in school activities and events
・ To maintain communication between the school and families
・ To help in maintaining the necessary facilities and equipment at school
The Parents Association annual fee is $5 per family.
The membership fees are collected at the beginning of the school year. Please refer information sheet provided after middle of September for submission. The collected PA annual fee will be used for the Mochitsuki event preparation. If the total of the PA annual fee and donations received on the day of the Mochitsuki event exceeds the expense, the proceeds will be donated to the school at the end of the year. Due to the fact that the PA annual fee is used for the Mochitsuki event, the fee will not apply to students enrolling after January.
Please sign up for the desired volunteer position at the beginning of the school year. Below are the details and descriptions for each committee. PA will provide the sign up sheet on the first day of the school.

KNI bazaar may be held around springtime only through requests.
＜Coordinator＞ 3-4 members
Coordinators will collect and summarize the volunteer sign up sheet and be the liaison between the KNI, the committees and Parents. The job also includes coordinating the bulk emails and notices from the PA and the committees.
＜Treasurer＞ 2-3 members
This position is to collect, calculate and summarize the PA membership. Maintaining the PA bank account and updating the expenses is also an important part of this job.
＜Class Parents＞ 2-4members from each class
Class Parents act as liaisons between the school and parents to help run various school events and activities.
There will be a meeting for Class Parents in Sept., Dec., Apr. and May. The meetings are for the Class parents to receive information about KNI events and also a place for the parents to express their opinions and exchange information on current issues with the teachers. The teachers will provide childcare during these meetings.
As a Class Parent, you may also need to provide assistance for some of the events at KNI.
＜Translation Committee＞3-4 members
The committee helps translate announcements from Parents Association and other Committees to provide immediate and accurate information for parents who do not speak Japanese. This position may be done from home since communication will be mostly by email.
＜Mochi pounding event Committee＞ 6-7 members
Mochitsuki is held on January and is sponsored by the Parents Association. This committee will be in charge of preparation and organizing the Mochitsuki event. If you haven’t done this before and do not know what to do, our experienced mothers and fathers will guide you through this wonderful event.
＜Mochitsuki Volunteer＞ 40 members
Preparations for the event the day before or helping on the day of the event for 2-3 hours. The main duties include setting up the venue, assisting reception, cutting mochi, helping kitchen and cleaning up etc. This is a PA event and we need your help!!
＜Sports Day Preparation Volunteers＞ 7 members
On the day of Sports Day, volunteers will help with venue set-up or parking assistance from 8am. The duties will be done before the event, so volunteers may enjoy Sports Day festivities with their families. Bento distribution volunteer starts before lunch time.
＜Sports Day Program Volunteers＞ 13 members
Volunteers will help with assisting/repositioning equipments the children used during the program.
＜Chef Akira’s Cooking Class Committee＞ 6 members
Chef Akira Hirose, the owner of Maison Akira, a French restaurant in Pasadena, will kindly give us a half-day long cooking class in the spring. The committee consults with the chef when preparing for this event.
＜Photo Committee＞ 7 members
We need volunteers to take pictures at the KNI Christmas program. This task also includes uploading pictures to the Flickr to share with all KNI Family. If you like to take pictures, and own a digital single-lens reflex camera, this will be perfect for you!
＜Christmas DVD Production Committee＞ 5-6 members
If you are professional or have experience in operating a video camera, lighting and audio, or editing videos, your volunteering will be greatly appreciated!
＜Facility Improvement Committee＞ 5 members
The committee helps KNI plan and maintain a safe environment for the students. English speakers are welcome to facilitate good communication between the school and church board members.
＜KNI Bazaar＞ 5 members
The bazaar will be held when the Parents Association need fundraising events and requires more than three volunteers to chair the event. In 2016, we raised over $2,500 at the event and donated a portion of the proceeds to Tohoku earthquake relief in Japan.

2016年度 第9回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１． 会計より
➢ 1年の感謝の気持ちを込めて、先生と事務の方へ、サンキューカードとギフトカードをお渡しします。保護者の皆様を代表して、クラスマザーがメッセージを書かせていただきます。
２． 30周年記念について
➢ 記念Ｔシャツの売上枚数は100枚以上となりました（子供用92枚／大人用23枚）。ご購入、ありがとうございました。まだ手元に届いていない方には、運動会直前にお届けできると思います
➢ 8月19日（土）の記念の会（在園生の部）の出欠確認にご協力いただき、ありがとうございます。当日の“夏祭り”では、ラムネやかき氷を用意する予定です。子供たちが楽しめる会にしますので、ぜひ、ご参加下さい。
➢ 当日に使わせていただくドネーションを、引き続き募集中です（アテンダンスシート横にサインナップシート用意）。ご質問がある方は、30周年委員または、kodomonoie30@gmail.comまでお問い合わせください。
● 飲食類（個別包装の駄菓子やパックに入ったジュースやお水など。真夏のため、手作り品はNG）
→品物は、8／14（月）～18（金）に、園にお預けください。事前に内容をお伝えいただければ、当日朝でも受け付けさせていただきます。
● 景品類（お食事券、ギフトカード、サロンやレッスンなどのサービス券、未開封の玩具など）
→品物は、運動会後から終業式までの間に、園長先生か大神さん、小川さん（さくら）、細川さん（きく）、金本さん（れんげ）にお預けください。
３． 来年度への引き継ぎについて
➢ 金剛さんが、来年度の会長に立候補してくださいました。
➢ その他、役員・クラスマザーを募集中ですので、ぜひ、ご協力お願いします。
４． 運動会に向けて
【開催概要】
➢ 日時：5月21日（日）午前8時半集合／午後1時半終了予定
➢ 場所：Oak Ave Intermediate School（6623 Oak Ave, Temple City, CA）
【運動会委員】
金剛さん（リーダー）、田沼さん（サブリーダー）、柴田さん（お弁当係）
【園長先生より運動会についての説明と注意事項】
各園児に配られる「運動会 ご案内と諸注意」と「競技プログラム」をよくお読みください。下記は特記事項です。
➢ 運動会は、クラスごとではなく、年齢ごとに3つのグループに分かれて行います。
● 年少（もも・れんげ・うめ）→赤帽子
● 年中（きく・すみれ）→白帽子
● 年長（れくら）→緑帽子
➢ 帽子は、前日までに各園児にお渡ししますので、当日お忘れなく。各帽子には番号がつけてあり、園の方で番号管理をしています。
➢ 当日は、午前8時半集合、9時スタートです。会場の駐車場はすぐに埋まってしまい、路駐をしていただく可能性があるため、時間に余裕をもってお越しください。
➢ 朝の出欠取りはありません。 「運動会ご案内と諸注意」の＜会場見取り図＞で席を確認し、指定された場所にお座りください。
➢ 集合は、各競技の一つ前です。気付いたら終わっていたということがないよう、各自ご注意下さい。
➢ 保護者の方が、お子様のトイレを済ませて、入場門へお連れ下さい。
➢ 写真係の方がいらっしゃいますので、保護者の皆様は（撮影に集中するばかりでなく）、できる限り、たくさん応援していただきたいと思います。撮影の際は、座席ラインの前の撮影ラインや、ゴールラインの前の撮影ラインよりなかには、入らないようにしてください。
➢ 同運動会は、ボランティアの皆様の力をお借りして行うものです。各競技の道具を持ったり、戻したりと、短い時間のものですので、ご協力をお願いします。
➢ 道具の出し入れは、高校生ボランティアがしてくれます。見かけたら、「ありがとう」と声をかけていただけるとうれしいです。
➢ 用事があったり、小さい赤ちゃんがいらしたり、気分が悪くなるなどで、先にお帰りになる場合は、クラスマザーに一言声掛けて、本部に立ち寄り、メダルを受け取って下さい、クラスごとの袋の中に名簿とメダルが入っていますので、名簿に受け取りサインをし、お持ち帰りください。お子様には、その日のうちに、メダルをかけてあげてください。
➢ 雨天の場合は、連絡網を回します。少しの雨の場合は、できるだけこの日に行いたいと思っています。
➢ 今年は、土曜日クラスの子供たちによる飲料販売がないため、お飲み物を多めにお持ちください。
【準備ボランティア】
➢ 準備ボランティアの皆様には、メールで詳細をお知らせしております。ご確認の上、ご不明な点はクラスマザーか運動会委員までお知らせください。
【競技ボランティア】
➢ 競技ボランティアをしてくださる皆様には、クラスマザーから、具体的なボランティア内容の説明をさせていただきます。
➢ 当日朝、競技や名前などの情報が記載されたステッカーをクラスマザーから受け取り、見えやすい位置（胸のあたりなど）に貼ってください。
➢ 各ボランティアさんは、一つ前の競技が始まるときに、本部テントの後ろに集合してください。
➢ 当日、欠席の場合は、お早めにクラスマザーにお知らせください。
【キャノピー】
➢ 各クラスで、大分集まってきました。ご協力ありがとうございます。
➢ 事前ドロップオフの受付は、5／15(月)～20(土)。当日の朝、準備ボランティアさんが代わりにセットアップして下さいます。
➢ アテンダンスシートの横に設置する用紙にクラスと名前を記入し、キャノピーとピクニックシートそれぞれに貼って下さい。
➢ 当日、キャノピーを持参予定の方でも、事前にピクニックシートをお持ちいただければ、席を確保します。事前に届いていない場合、席の確保はお約束できないことを予めご了承下さい。
【お弁当】
➢ 申し込みは、締め切りました。
➢ 来週5／17(水)〜お弁当引換券をお便りばさみでお返しますので、当日忘れず持参下さい。
ご不明な点は、運動会全般は園長先生、ボランティア、キャノピー、お弁当は運動会委員リーダーまで
５． ファンドレイズ（幾留さん）

2016-2017 9th Class Mother Meeting Minutes
１． From the Treasurer
➢ We will have thank you cards for teachers and administrative staff for the end of School year. Please make sure that every class mother pens their heartfelt thanks for the year with their name.
２. 30th Anniversary Celebration
➢ We’ve sold over 100 commemorative t-shirts（kids 92／adults 23). Thank you for all of your support! If you haven’t yet received your t-shirt, you should have them just before Sports Day.
➢ Thanks to all who rsvp’d for the commemoration(for current students) on August 19th（Sat).
➢ For the “summer festival” we plan to have Ramune soda and shaved ice. We plan for a party that the children will really enjoy, so please join us!
➢ We continue to solicit donations toward the day’s festivities. (The donation sign up sheet is located next to the attendance sheet.) Please forward all queries to the 30th anniversary committee, or to kodomonoie30@gmail.com
● Food/Drinks (individually wrapped foods, snacks, boxed juices, bottled waters. For the bottled water, any sizes are welcome except the ones that require cups for drinking. Because it will be hot we can NOT accept handmade items.
→Please bring items to KNI between 8／14（Mon）～18（Fri). If you let us know beforehand, it’s also possible to bring items on the morning of the event (8/19).

【Information】
➢ Date：May 21st（Sun）8:30 – 1:30 PM
➢ Location：Oak Ave Intermediate School（6623 Oak Ave, Temple City, CA）

【Information and pointers from Encho Sensei on Sports Day】
Please be sure to read “Sports Day Information” and “Sports Day Program,” which we will send home with the students before the event. I am highlighting some important points, below:
➢ Sports Day is NOT divided up by class, but by AGE into 3 groups.
● youngest（Momo•Renge•Ume) → red hats
● middle（Kiku•Sumire）→white hats
● oldest/graduating（Sakura）→green hats
➢ Hats will be distributed before the event, so please don’t forget them on Sports Day! Each hat is numbered, and the school will keep track of which child is given which number.
➢ Students must arrive by 8:30, with the first event beginning at 9:00AM. The school parking lot fills up very quickly so please be prepared for the extra time it may take to park on the street and walk to the event.
➢ There is no attendance check in the morning. Please check the map on your “Sports Day Information” sheet to find where you should sit.
➢ Please make sure that your child is prepared one event before the event they are participating in, it is easy to miss in all the excitement. Please be careful not to miss it!
➢ Parents, please make sure to take your child to the bathroom before entering the arena.
➢ We will have photographers taking pictures. Parents, instead of focusing all of your time on videos and photos, please put your energy into encouraging the children and giving them your full attention. If you are taking photos, please make sure to always stay BEHIND the photo line in the field and at the goal area.
➢ Our Sports Day relies on volunteers and others pitching in to help. Each event has various equipment that must be hauled back and forth in a short period of time, so we ask for your patience and support.
➢ High school student volunteers will be hauling equipment back and forth. If you notice any of them, please make sure to give them a word of thanks.
➢ If you must leave for any reason (other obligations, small children, the heat, illness, etc) please make sure to tell your class mother. Each child will receive a medal for participation, and these medals are kept by the class. Please pick up your child’s medal at the main tent and make sure to check-off the name of your child from the list.
➢ If it rains we will contact you via the phone tree. If there is only a little rain we will try to continue with the event.
➢ This year the Saturday class will not be selling drinks, so please make sure to bring your own.
【Set up Volunteers】
➢ We’ve sent an email to the set up volunteers. If you have any questions please contact your class mother or a Sports Day Committee member.
【competition/event volunteers】
➢ competition/event volunteers: class mothers will give you detailed information pertaining to your event.
➢ On the morning of the event please make sure to receive a sticker from a class mother and put it somewhere that can be easily seen on your shirt. It will have relevant information (your event name, your name, etc).
➢ Volunteers should be at the main tent one event before their assigned event.
➢ If you cannot attend Sports Day, please let a class mother know as soon as possible.
【Canopies】
➢ Each class has amassed quite a few canopies. Thank you!
➢ Pre-event drop off of canopies: 5／15(Mon)～20(Sat). Set Up volunteers will set up the canopies on the day of the event.
➢ There are pre-made sheets next to the attendance sheet. Please use these to write in your name and class and tape it onto canopies and picnic blankets.
➢ Even if you plan to bring a canopy on the day of the event, if you bring a picnic sheet before the event date we can reserve a space for you beforehand. Unfortunately, if we don’t have your picnic blanket beforehand we cannot guarantee a spot for you.
【Bento Lunches】
➢ The deadline has passed for bento lunches.
➢ Ticket stubs for lunches will be sent after 5/17 (Wed) in your child’s newsletter folder. Make sure you don’t forget on Sports Day!

各園児に配られる「運動会 ご案内と諸注意」と「競技プログラム」をよくお読みください。下記は特記事項です。
➢ 運動会は、クラスごとではなく、年齢ごとに3つのグループに分かれて行います。
● 年少（もも・れんげ・うめ）→赤帽子
● 年中（きく・すみれ）→白帽子
● 年長（れくら）→緑帽子
➢ 帽子は、前日までに各園児にお渡ししますので、当日お忘れなく。各帽子には番号がつけてあり、園の方で番号管理をしています。
➢ 当日は、午前8時半集合、9時スタートです。会場の駐車場はすぐに埋まってしまい、路駐をしていただく可能性があるため、時間に余裕をもってお越しください。
➢ 朝の出欠取りはありません。 「運動会ご案内と諸注意」の＜会場見取り図＞で席を確認し、指定された場所にお座りください。
➢ 集合は、各競技の一つ前です。気付いたら終わっていたということがないよう、各自ご注意下さい。
➢ 保護者の方が、お子様のトイレを済ませて、入場門へお連れ下さい。
➢ 写真係の方がいらっしゃいますので、保護者の皆様は（撮影に集中するばかりでなく）、できる限り、たくさん応援していただきたいと思います。撮影の際は、座席ラインの前の撮影ラインや、ゴールラインの前の撮影ラインよりなかには、入らないようにしてください。
➢ 同運動会は、ボランティアの皆様の力をお借りして行うものです。各競技の道具を持ったり、戻したりと、短い時間のものですので、ご協力をお願いします。
➢ 道具の出し入れは、高校生ボランティアがしてくれます。見かけたら、「ありがとう」と声をかけていただけるとうれしいです。
➢ 用事があったり、小さい赤ちゃんがいらしたり、気分が悪くなるなどで、先にお帰りになる場合は、クラスマザーに一言声掛けて、本部に立ち寄り、メダルを受け取って下さい、クラスごとの袋の中に名簿とメダルが入っていますので、名簿に受け取りサインをし、お持ち帰りください。お子様には、その日のうちに、メダルをかけてあげてください。
➢ 雨天の場合は、連絡網を回します。少しの雨の場合は、できるだけこの日に行いたいと思っています。
➢ 今年は、土曜日クラスの子供たちによる飲料販売がないため、お飲み物を多めにお持ちください。
【準備ボランティア】
➢ 準備ボランティアの皆様には、メールで詳細をお知らせしております。ご確認の上、ご不明な点はクラスマザーか運動会委員までお知らせください。
【競技ボランティア】
➢ 競技ボランティアをしてくださる皆様には、クラスマザーから、具体的なボランティア内容の説明をさせていただきます。
➢ 当日朝、競技や名前などの情報が記載されたステッカーをクラスマザーから受け取り、見えやすい位置（胸のあたりなど）に貼ってください。
➢ 各ボランティアさんは、一つ前の競技が始まるときに、本部テントの後ろに集合してください。
➢ 当日、欠席の場合は、お早めにクラスマザーにお知らせください。
【キャノピー】
➢ 各クラスで、大分集まってきました。ご協力ありがとうございます。
➢ 事前ドロップオフの受付は、5／15(月)～20(土)。当日の朝、準備ボランティアさんが代わりにセットアップして下さいます。
➢ アテンダンスシートの横に設置する用紙にクラスと名前を記入し、キャノピーとピクニックシートそれぞれに貼って下さい。

2016年度 第8回 クラスマザー会 議事録
１．アキラさんのお料理教室報告（お料理教室委員リーダー）
アンケート結果：受講者24名のうち22名から回収したアンケートでは、参加人数、メニュー、参加費のすべてにおいて満足度100％で、大成功となりました。
会計報告：参加費410ドル／支出407.18ドル→残金2.82ドルは園へ寄付。

フレンチも意外と簡単なんだなと身近に感じた。

4／5（水）より販売開始した記念トートバッグは、売れ行きが順調で、デニム（小）、ナチュラル（小）のバッグはすでに完売、ナチュラル（大）はまだ在庫があります。お買い上げいただきました皆様、ありがとうございます。
【記念Tシャツ販売開始】
販売期間：お便りばさみを通してオーダーフォームを配布中。受注締切は4／22（土）。
サイズ：トドラー（2T、４T）、ユース（XS、M）、大人（S、M、L）を取り揃え、色は、白、黒、グレー、ラベンダー、蛍光緑、トドラーにソフトピンクの限定色、ユースにデニムの限定色を用意した全７色。大人用は白、黒、グレー３色のみ。（サイズの融通がきくため、上記以外のサイズをご希望の際は、その旨を申込フォームに記入してください。）
値段：子供用15ドル、大人用17ドル
申込方法：申込フォームに、おつりのない現金を添えて、アテンダンスシート横の専用箱へ。
色とサイズによって、翌週に渡せるものもあれば3週間ほどお渡しに時間がかかるものもあり。受け渡しに時間がかかる場合は、オーダーを受け付けたのち、30周年委員よりご連絡します。
【30周年記念の会（8月19日／土）のお知らせと出欠確認のお願い】
メールでもご案内しましたとおり、こどもの家の30周年を記念し、記念の会（在園生の部）を行います。夏ならではのラムネやかき氷のリフレッシュメントや、スタンプラリーなどの楽しいイベントを用意して、にぎやかな会にする予定ですので、ふるってご参加下さい。
なお、リフレッシュメントやイベント・チケットの準備のため、後ほど、各クラスのクラスマザーが出欠の確認をさせていただきます。ご協力お願いします。

３．きく組の敬老訪問について（きく組クラスマザー）
毎年恒例のきく組による敬老訪問が、当初予定の4/19（水）から5/31（水）に変更。バスの予約がとれなかったこと、入居者の方々の体調がおもわしくなかったことが理由。
きく組保護者の皆様に、バス乗車の希望者数を事前に確認した上で、5月にバス乗車の申込書を配布予定。バス・レンタル自体の料金があがっているため、園児1人につき、9ドル近くになる予定です。
４．運動会について（運動会委員リーダー）

【運動会に向けてのお願いとお知らせ】
組振り分けについて
例えば、年少（れんげ／もも／すみれ）に通っているが年中の競技に出る、または、年中（きく／うめ）に通っているが年少の競技に出場など、お子様によって、出場組が変わってくる場合があります。対象となる園児の保護者には、クラスマザーよりお知らせします。
準備ボランティアについて
年度始めに運動会のボランティアへサインアップ下さった方、途中入園された方を対象に、運動会委員より、お願い・ご説明のメールを送らせていただきます。ご不明な点は、いつでも運動会委員までお問い合わせ下さい。

第2回お気持ちウィーク（2／22～3／11）の売上は、203.56ドル（ガレージセール売上59ドルを含む。半額の101.78ドルは園に寄付、半額は父母会の収入として計上)
今回残った品物は、スリフトストアのドネーションを受け付けるシステム利用を試みたものの、かなりの量のドネーションでないと受け付けられないと言われたために、在園生の保護者がガレージセールを行いました。
→（園長先生）いただいた寄付額は、ししおり小学校へ約100冊の絵本を送った際の郵送代にさせていただきました。ありがとうございます。

【30th Anniversary reunion (8/19 Saturday) announcement and participation request】
As in email from the Anniversary Committee, we are going to have an anniversary event celebration the 30th birthday of KNI (for current KNI children). We will provide refreshments including shaved ice and ramune (soda), and also have fun activities such as stamp rally. (Each booth will have a different stamp. The children will have to travel through all the booths to collect and fill up their stamp card.) Please consider participating!
For the preparation for the refreshments and activities, Class Mothers will ask the attendance soon.

The annual visit to the nursing home was initially scheduled on 4/19 (Wednesday) however, we were not able to reserve the bus in time and health conditions of the residents at the nursing home were not well, so it got postponed to 5/31 (Wednesday).
Because the rate has gone up to charter a school bus, it will average to about $9 per student.

How the groups will be divided.
Class grouping: For those whose children are in multiple grades, please make sure with your class mothers which class group your child will be assigned to. (Example: Students in both lower and upper level classes may end up competing with lower level students)
For the set up volunteers the day of.
Volunteers are made up of people who volunteered at the beginning of the year as well as parents of new students. Volunteer information, which includes duties and sign-up procedure, will be sent via email from Sports Day Committee. Please don't hesitate to contact the Sports day committee with any concerns or questions.
Tents/Canopies
We are collecting tents/canopies by class. If you could lend your tent to us, please sign up on the forms next to the attendance sheets by 5/5 (Friday) Thank you!

We collected a total of $203.56 for the second rummage sale, which includes $59 sales collected from the garage sale. The half amount of total sale, $101.78 will be donated to KNI. The rest is added to the KNI PA income.
Remainder of the items from rummage sale was taken to a thrift store; however, the store won’t accept the items unless in large quantity, families of current KNI students held a garage sale with the remainder of the items.
-(Encho Sensei) The donation from the rummage sale was used for postage stamps to mail the 100 books to Shishiori Elementary School. Thank you for all your contribution.
Christmas DVD: We are distributing the DVDs using KNI newsletter holders. If any of you happen to have defective ones, please contact Encho Sensei for replacement.
6. Fundraise (Mrs. Ikudome)
T-shirt orders have ended and will be delivered before Sports Day.
Scrips order form included along with newsletter on 4/14 (Friday) Due date will be end of April and products will arrive mid May. We will continue to sell gift cards at the office.

アンケート結果：受講者24名のうち22名から回収したアンケートでは、参加人数、メニュー、参加費のすべてにおいて満足度100％で、大成功となりました。
会計報告：参加費410ドル／支出407.18ドル→残金2.82ドルは園へ寄付。

３．きく組の敬老訪問について（きく組クラスマザー）
毎年恒例のきく組による敬老訪問が、当初予定の4/19（水）から5/31（水）に変更。バスの予約がとれなかったこと、入居者の方々の体調がおもわしくなかったことが理由。
きく組保護者の皆様に、バス乗車の希望者数を事前に確認した上で、5月にバス乗車の申込書を配布予定。バス・レンタル自体の料金があがっているため、園児1人につき、9ドル近くになる予定です。

Volunteers are made up of people who volunteered at the beginning of the year as well as parents of new students. Volunteer information, which includes duties and sign-up procedure, will be sent via email from Sports Day Committee. 5. Other
We collected a total of $203.56 for the second rummage sale, which includes $59 sales collected from the garage sale. The half amount of total sale, $101.78 will be donated to KNI. The rest is added to the KNI PA income.
Remainder of the items from rummage sale was taken to a thrift store; however, the store won’t accept the items unless in large quantity, families of current KNI students held a garage sale with the remainder of the items.
-(Encho Sensei) The donation from the rummage sale was used for postage stamps to mail the 100 books to Shishiori Elementary School. Thank you for all your contribution.
Christmas DVD: We are distributing the DVDs using KNI newsletter holders. If any of you happen to have defective ones, please contact Encho Sensei for replacement.
6. Fundraise (Mrs. Ikudome)
T-shirt orders have ended and will be delivered before Sports Day.
Scrips order form included along with newsletter on 4/14 (Friday) Due date will be end of April and products will arrive mid May. We will continue to sell gift cards at the office.

5/5 (Friday) There will be a Children’s Day event at the Huntington Library. We will head over as soon as the Friday class ends and will hold an origami booth form 3:30-5:00 PM
-(Mrs. Ogami) Around 3:00 stickers for entry will be handed out to the first 70 people. Due to limited entry, we could only hand out stickers to the parents of the KNI.

１．30周年記念の会について
＜はじめに＞
30周年委員は、卒園生保護者も含め全14人で活動しています。さにら、現父母会の役員、クラスマザーさんにもすでにいろいろとご協力を得ており、ありがとうございます。今後、30周年関連のご案内を園だよりやメールにて、順次お知らせしていきます。保護者の皆様のご協力・ご理解のもと、30周年を盛り上げていきたいと思いますので、よろしくお願いします。
＜父母会より資金援助のお願い＞
父母会より資金の援助をいただけるというお話をいただいており、承認をお願いしたいと思います。
→（クラスマザー会）イベント後に残額があった場合には園に寄付をするという条件のもと、多数決で承認されました。全額は在園生の会にあてられます。具体的な金額については、会長・副会長・会計が調整のうえ、決定。
＜記念グッズについて＞
【30周年記念デザイン】ピアノのお部屋の壁画でおなじみ、卒園生のお母様でアーティストの、横山未来さんによるデザイン完成。
【限定トートバッグ】販売価格は10～12ドル。バリエーションは、キャンバス地（大小2種類）に黒インク、デニム地（小）に白インク。計100枚限定販売。4月5日（水）から園オフィスにて販売開始。
【限定Tシャツ】販売価格は15～20ドル。大人、ユース＆トドラーサイズを用意し、色は白地に黒インク、黒かダークグレーなどの濃い色地に白インク、子どもが着て可愛いと思われる明るい色など複数パターンを展開。4月下旬に発売予定。

日程：8月19日（土） 午前9時半～12時半
内容：記念礼拝後、園庭に移動していただき、子供たちがスタンプラリーをしながら、ラムネや駄菓子をもらって楽しいプチ夏祭り、というイメージ。サマースクールの延長のような、こどもの家らしいアットホームなもので、夏休みの土曜の朝、久しぶりにこどもの家に行ってみたいな！と思っていただける企画をご用意します。
＜記念の会 第2部 卒園生の会について＞
日程：8月19日（土） 午後4時半～8時
内容：こちらも、30周年記念の夏祭りという楽しいイメージ。軽いディナーを食べながら、懐かしい過去写真を眺めたり、園長先生が卒園生に園内を案内したり、卒園生同士が同窓会のように懐かしい話に花を咲かせられる雰囲気を作っていきたいと思います。
＊今夏に卒園するさくら組のお子様は、在園生のくくりにさせていただきます。また、在園生と卒園生の両方をお持ちのご家族は、両方の会に参加していただけます。
２．来年度役員選出について
来年度の役員をしてくださる方を募集中。
今年度が終わる6月以前に、少なくとも、会長、副会長、会計は決めておきたい。
興味がある方はぜひ、父母会役員にでも園長先生にでもかまいませんので、お声がけください。
３．その他
＜お料理教室について＞
定員25名が埋まりました。
＜謝恩会について＞
謝恩会とは、毎年卒園式の後に、先生方への感謝の気持ちを込めて、さくら組の保護者が主催する集いです。例年「謝恩会費」（卒園記念品、先生へのプレゼント、来賓への招待状、来賓の飲食、会場装飾費用等）を、さくら組全員から集めていますが、今年度は保護者の負担をできるだけ減らすべく、現実に必要な金額に基づいて予算を立てる作業をしています。こうしたなか、父母会予算のなかに「卒園記念品への補助」という項目がありますが、卒園記念品が同額に満たない場合もあるため、「卒園記念品への補助」を「卒園記念品並び謝恩会への補助」とし、同予算を謝恩会の運営補助としても活用できるよう、変更の承認をいただければと思います。
→（クラスマザー会）多数決にて承認されました。同記録は来年以降にも残していきます。
４．休園について（園より）
＜保護者の皆様へ＞
今回の休園につきましては、皆様方に多大なご心配、ご迷惑をおかけして申し訳ありませんでした。今回は、さくら組のみに多くの欠席者がでて、他のクラスは全く平常だったのですが（さくら組も前日は欠席1人）、3月2日当日一挙に多くの欠席者がでたため、緊急事態と考え、すみれ組、うめ組、日本語学校も休園の措置をとらせていただきました。
ドクターにこの状況を話し、原因と病名も伺いましたが、特定することはできないとの事でした。今後は園全体で気を配っていきたいと思います。
５．ファンドレイズ
【Ｔシャツ】現在、サンプルを園庭に飾っています。今回は、新しいアッシュグレーを含む9色。アッシュグレーはサンプルがないのですが、お父さんにも着ていただきやすい薄いグレー（ロゴは白）です。白いＴシャツのみ、ロゴがチャコールグレーになっています。
【ランチバッグ＆スクリップ】引き続き、在庫をオフィスにて販売しています。オフィス前に目立つように貼り紙をしていることもあり、多くの方に購入いただき、嬉しいです。
【次回スクリップ】4月のクラスマザー会前に、新しいスクリップをご案内予定。
６．園長先生より
30周年記念について、いろいろとご計画していただき、ありがとうございます。昨日も日本から卒園生の男の子が遊びに来てくれ、就職が決まったことを報告してくれました。記念の会を楽しみにしていると言ってくれている子もいますし、当日行くことはできないので残念ですという手紙もいくつか受け取っています。
運動会も、いろいろと準備を進めていただき、ありがとうございます。
謝恩会は簡素に、保護者の方のご負担にならないよう、くれぐれもよろしくお願いします。
このたびの休園のことについては、ご迷惑をおかけしてすみませんでした。ご理解ありがとうございます。

2016-2017 7th Class Mothers/Fathers Meeting
1. The 30th Anniversary Reunion
Introduction
Currently, there are 14 Anniversary Committee members including parents of KNI graduates preparing for the event. We are thankful for help from present KNI Parents Association members as well as Class Mothers. We will start notifying parents about event-related matters through KNI Newsletters and emails. We are working hard to make this event successful, and we hope to have cooperation and understanding from all the KNI parents and guardians. Thank you!
Funding Support from the Parents Association
We wish to have your approval on the funding support for this event from the Parents Association.
Result: It was approved by the Class Mothers with the condition that any remaining profit/balance should be donated to KNI. The fund from the Parents Association is going to be used for the gathering of the current KNI children. Actual amount donated to the Anniversary Reunion will be decided after consultation by the president, vice presidents, and the treasurer.
Anniversary Goods Sale
The 30th Anniversary Design: The design for the 30th anniversary celebration is created by Miki Yokoyama, mother of a KNI alum who also painted the mural of the KNI piano room.
Limited edition tote bags: Sale price will be $10-12. Colors available are: black on canvas base (small and large), and white on denim base (small only). A total of 100 bags will be made for sale. The sale starts on April 5 (Wed), at the KNI office.
Limited edition T-shirts: Sale price will be $15-20. Sizes are available for adult, youth, and toddlers. Colors available are: Black on white shirt, white on either black or other dark color shirt, and few bright colors for toddlers, provided in several patterns. Sale starts at the end of April.
Anniversary Reunion Part I: Current KNI children
Date: August 19 (Sat) 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Event detail: After the Anniversary worship, children will enjoy a stamp rally to obtain small treats. We are aiming for a Japanese summer festival feel/image with a stamp rally, ramune soft drinks and small treats. We plan to prepare events that will entice the children to drop by at KNI on a Saturday morning during the summer break.
Anniversary Reunion Part II: KNI alumni
Date: August 19 (Sat) 4: 30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Event detail: This is also like a summer festival or the 30th anniversary. We plan to provide relaxing atmosphere so that participants will be able to engage in delightful conversation with other alumni, through activities such as looking at old pictures and having a KNI tour with Encho sensei over light dinner.
*This year’s Sakura graduates will be treated as current KNI pupils. Families that have both KNI alumni and current KNI children can participate in both part I and II.
2. 2017-2018 KNI Parents Association Board Members
We are recruiting for the 2017-2018 board members of KNI Parents Association!
We are determined to have clear ideas about who will be the next President, Vice-President, and the Treasurer at the least by the end of the school year in June.
Please come talk to any of the board members, or to Encho Sensei if you are interested.
3. Miscellaneous
Chef Akira’s Cooking Class
25 participants were selected.
Shaonkai
Shaonkai is a teacher appreciation party hosted by Sakura parents after the Graduation Ceremony. Conventionally, the budget for this gathering that includes memorabilia, presents for KNI teachers, invitation cards for the guests, snacks and beverage for the guests, and decoration items, etc., are collected from Sakura-gumi parents. This year, we are trying to draft our budget based on the actual amount needed for the event in order to decrease the funding burden of Sakura parents. We also have an item called “Assistance for Graduation Memorabilia” in the Parent Association budget. But we need your approval to change the name of this item to “Support for Graduation Memorabilia and Shaonkai,” so that we can use the funds to support not just the memorabilia (because sometimes the cost for memorabilia purchase is lower than the budget), but also for the overall event management.
Result: Approved by majority vote. This record is made available for the future.
4. Class Cancellation (from KNI)
To the KNI Parents
We apologize for causing any inconvenience by the closing of KNI due to the spread of flu-like sickness. There were many absences only from Sakura, and other classes were fine (only one absence from Sakura the day before). But on March 2nd, so many students called in sick that we judged the situation needed countermeasure. We closed Sumire, Ume, and the Japanese School. The doctor we consulted told us that neither a specification of cause nor a diagnosis is possible. We will try our best to support children’s well-being.
5. Fundraising
T-Shirt: Samples are available next to the KNI attendance sign ups. We have nine different colors including ash gray. Currently we don’t have ash gray in our samples, but that particular color is light gray (with white logos) that is easier for fathers to wear. The white t-shirts have charcoal gray logos.
Lunch bags and Scrips: We continue to sell our stock at the KNI office. We already have sold many of these probably because of the announcement in front of the office. Thank you!
The next Scrip sale: We plan to announce the next Scrip sale before the Class Mother/Father meeting in April.
6. From Encho Sensei
Thank you very much for your help preparing for our 30th Anniversary Reunion. Just yesterday, a KNI alumnus visited us from Japan and told us he got a job. We also hear about children who are looking forward to the reunion. I have also received several letters of non-attendance with deep regret.
Also, thank you for moving forward with the planning of this year’s Sports Day.
Please know that we wish the graduation party simple, so that it won’t put too much burden on parents.
We are truly sorry for the class closures earlier this month. And thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.

【もちつき用の米蒸し】今年は初めてプロパンを使い、子供たちが危険ではないかという心配もあったが、委員やボランティアの方々、大神さん、もち名人ご婦人と、誰かがずっと付いていてくださったので大丈夫だった。来年もプロパン使って餅を蒸したい。蒸し時間の短縮にもなり、美味しさも違う。
【待ち時間対策】太鼓演奏をしている間は、もち配り（もちつき）が中断し、途中まで長い時間並んでいた人は列を離れることができず、太鼓をそばで見て楽しむことができなかった。行列の長さによっては、整理券を配っては？ または、司会のアナウンスを工夫するなどして、太鼓開始の数十分前に、いったん列を中断するのもいいかもしれない。
【待ち時間対策】太鼓の前に10分ほどもちが出てこない状態が続き、50人以上がずっと並んで待っていた。おもちが出てくる前の「前菜」として、ワッフル（来年度も作る場合）やおぜんざいをおすすめできるよう、司会も含めて、もっとアナウンスをしていけたらよいと思う。
卒園生の多くが園長先生に会いに来ていて、お花を持ってきた子もいたことが印象的だった。例年のことだが、おもちつき大会は、卒園生が園長先生や先生たちと触れ合える唯一の機会。園長先生が、おもちの返しをお休みし、卒園生と話をしたり、園内を案内できる時間を作ってはどうだろうか？ 園長先生のご意向もあるので、来年に向けて検討できたらよい。

無人で行うお気持ち箱テントセール「お気持ちWeek」の第2回を開催します。
各家庭からお持ちになった品物を、開催期間中に各自テント下にドロップしてください。
無人セールなので、お気に入りの品物がありましたら、各自お気持ち箱に入金（ドネーション）し、物品をお持ち帰り頂くシステムとなります。皆様のご参加、心よりお待ちしております。
開催期間：2月22日（水）～3月4日（土）
場所：園庭に入ってすぐ右のテントの下
対象品：新品もしくは新古の大人と子供用品（本／服／おもちゃ／靴）、日用品、ご自宅でとれた野菜、果物など。＊＊家電は除く＊＊

５．30周年記念の会の準備状況報告（30周年委員）
開催日程：8月19日（土）午前中は在園児の会／夕方から卒園生の会
卒園生に向けては、昨年末に園からのホリデーカードに同封する形で、案内状を送付。現在、こどもの家ウェブサイト（URLは下記）、Facebook特設アカウント（URLは下記）でアナウンスしつつ、参加申し込みフォーム（URLは下記）から出席を募っているところです。4月末を締切としているものの、直前まで予定がわからない方も多いと思うので、締切延長を考慮したいと思います。
記念の会の運営費を集めるため、資金調達サイトGoFundMe（URLは下記）で、2000ドルを目標としたキャッシュドネーションを受付中。
卒園生の保護者でアーティストの方の30周年記念デザインがほぼ完成。Tシャツなどの記念アイテムを作る予定なのでお楽しみに。
在園児保護者の皆様には、上記を含め、詳細を3月から園だよりやウェブサイト、メールを通じて案内開始予定です。

２．Reflections on the Mochi Festival（Mochi Festival committee and volunteers）
＊Comments below are excerpted from additional comments made during last month’s Class Mother meeting
【Mochi Steaming】This year we used propane for the first time. Although we feared the propane fire would be dangerous for the children, volunteers, Ms. Ogami, and committee members all took turns watching the fire, so all went well. We would like to continue using propane next year, as the steaming time is shorter, resulting in more delicious mochi.
【Alleviating long wait times】When the Taiko performance starts, mochi pounding stops. Those who had been waiting in line for a chance to pound, however, were forced to either give up their spot in line or stay in line to watch the performance from far away or with obstructed views. Perhaps someone can keep an eye on the line and stop giving out tickets when the performance time nears? Or, 10-20 minutes before the Taiko performance we can make an announcement and stop accepting people in line.
【Alleviating long wait times】There was no mochi delivered for about10 minutes before the Taiko performance, resulting in over 50 people waiting in line. It would be nice to offer those stuck in line some mochi waffles (if available next year), or zenzai (red bean soup) as appetizers. We could also continue to remind people about such items over the loudspeaker.
Seeing all of the graduates coming to see Encho Sensei and the other teachers; seeing a student bring flowers to Encho Sensei left a lasting impression. Would it be nice for Encho Sensei to have time away from her mochi turning duties (during mochi pounding) to devote to these former students? Of course, Encho Sensei will also have an opinion about this, so it would be nice to return explore some possibilities idea next year.

Place：Tented area just right of the entrance to KNI
Items：NEW or ALMOST NEW items (books, clothes, toys, shoes)for adults and children, every day items, vegetables or fruit harvested from personal gardens, etc. WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ELECTRONIC ITEMS.
Revenue：Funds raised will be divided 50/50 between the Parent Association and the school.
＜Reminder＞
Please place puzzle pieces or other small components into taped ziplock bags, Items often get separated, so please be mindful how you bring your donations.
Because no one will be manning the donated items, please make sure your children do NOT play with the toys. Keeping the area tidy helps buyers see items more easily.
５． KNI’s 30th Anniversary （30th Anniversary Committee）
Date：August 19（Sat）The morning for current students / The evening for graduates
Last year we sent KNI graduates a holiday card with information about the celebration. We currently have a website (url below), facebook page (url below), plus a registration form (url below). The original deadline was in April, but we are considering extending the due date, given last minute changes in people’s summer plans.
A GoFundMe site has been created to help pay for the celebration. The goal has been set for $2000.
A parent of a former student is an artist who will be creating the design of the 30th Anniversary Celebration. We plan to have T-shirts and other commemorative items made, so stay tuned!
Parents of current students will begin receiving relevant information beginning in March, via KNI newsletter, the KNI website, e-mail, etc.
This year’s graduating Sakura class will be considered a “current student” for the festivities.
